Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

Just thought I would stop in and say hello
I have been very busy with seasonal jobs. Still looking for The Job. I am thinking of bringing my birds to the Monroe show. To sell. Since my rare birds are not in the SOp.
Or should I enter them just to be disqualified?

Icelandic and Swedish flower hen
I could enter my Cayuga duckies.
Someone pm me when the entry forms are available.

It's 12 out right now. Sittin on the couch with my dogs. Wednesday I will be in Hawaii till jan 31. I forgot what warm sun feels like. I hear there are feral chickens. Not sure if Maui has them.

Generally chicks will "burrow" under anything they think is mom and stay there.

Yup, Maui has them. If you take "the Road to Hanna" you will see them in the small villages. We were there a year and a half ago. We leave for Oahu tomorrow, for a Pro Bowl trip my wife won. Yay

Had another egg hatch last night, a little RIR! Also my EE roo Seth (I keep calling him Steve, whoops) hurt his leg yesterday. I am assuming he did it by jumping from something to high because there is nothing on his foot. Hopfuly it will get better.
This week I hope to do a few things to the grow out pen in the coop so that I may put my chicks in their and all my big girls can't get in. we'll see if I get to it.

Some one asked me if I would ship eggs. Well I have never done it before, but if the shippng was paid for I would do it.

Good news everyone, my Cochin that wasn't looking so good yesterday is great today. Still a little on the sleepy side, but she's been running around with Klondike and the other Cochins, and not constantly hanging out under the heat lamp. I named her Hope. We are going to go pick up some save-a-chick today along with some chick grit.

Great job, Hope!

Happy Monday all!

FarminMama: Congratulations on your RIR chick! That's so exciting!

When is the best time to hatch chicks, and buy chicks? I definitely don't need anymore, but I'm thinking my neighbor might. hehe!

My BA pullets have taken nicely to the chicks the last few days! I'm so thankful!

And I am (almost) finished with my tractor coop, except now I want to convert part of the garage... I think I'm addicted! but I think I built it a little to sturdy (aka heavy) because the wheels keep bending brackets, we even tried training wheel thingies... Any suggestions? I was thinking it's probably just best to bolt the wheels to the 2x4 frame? I tried to find something similar in all the chicken tractor pages, but they're all so different.

How was the gun show (for those who attended)?

That is what I did with mine. 6"x1/2" bolt and 8" lawn mower wheels with the steel hub. My tractor weighs a few hundred pounds as it is all 2x4 and Plywood framed. 4'x4'x10'
