Reber Ranch is a family owned place in Auburn/Kent. It's a nice place. Those of you with dogs - they also have a couple of dog parks that are free for rewards customers to use. One of the parks is an agility course. I don't have a dog, but if I did, my dog would be going there frequently.

Wilco Farm Stores will have chicks beginning Feb 15th. The closest one to you is in Kelso I think. And they carry EE's. If you need to break her do you know how?

I just got back from buying 8 Black Copper Marans chick. I will keep six and one or two will go to my friend, Janet. I have a Silkie that has been brooding on fake eggs. I put her and the chicks in the chick hatchery and she quickly took them under her wing. I think she is the same hen that raised several broods in a row last year. I would just keep adding chicks to her brood and she would mother them and then added ducks and guineas and she mothered them as well. She is very protective and has no qualms about sinking her beak into your hand if you get close.....one Border Colie had her nose too close to the wire and she reached out and pecked her thru the wire.....Rainey ran off!1

These chick are just under a week old. They ran right up to her and went under her. She has shown them the feed already. This line is from Ray Valentine. I saw the parents, lost of feathers on the shanks, very nice. I saw the eggs they laid and all were deep, dark brown.

I also have three WadeJean/Bev Davis Lines as well...five hens and a rooster plus two laying Blue Marans. I hope to have a nice flock by spring.

This is going to be so much fun!

added: How wild is this? I got the chicks from a fellow board member "Eagle2026" He is awesome!

So when Lucy saw the chick she seems pretty ****** off, but I managed to stick it under her and rub it all over her before pulling my hand back. She hasn't hurt it yet, so I'm going in the house soon. I'll bring the others after dark and put food water out there. I stapled up a cardboard box around that nest box too, to keep them all safe.

Yes it's a vacuum cleaner box, and I used a grate as a ramp down from the nest box. The chick hasn't come out yet is that ok? Maybe just sleeping? It's peeping when Lucy moves and clicks
