Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

Lucky you, so what are you going to do with all the chicks you'll have? Your going to have a lot.

My mom wants 20-30 pullets, Her neighbor is asking for 5 pullets and a rooster. Whatever roosters are left over I have a pen with coop at my moms house that is my "meat coop" I put roosters in to grow to a good size and then butcher them. I figure her neighbor can choose from the roosters which he wants and my mom wants to replace her rooster. Hoping to get a EE rooster for my moms chickens. Cause she has hens that lay big white eggs and some that do light brown eggs. I think that would create green egg layers and olive eggers wouldn't it? If i breed them together and hatch eggs.
I really enjoy chicks. And the limit on poultry doesn't count immature birds. I love letting chicks run around the back yard and garden and eat all the bugs. I use to have an ant problem. Now it's mostly under control.

the B6 sounds great!!

B6, magnesium and Niacinamide are for nerve function. If you have any nerve pain- google your pain condition and then any of those 3 for more info. For instance:

Fibromyalgia + Niacinamide
nerve pain + B6 or magnesium or niacinamide

I'm not a doctor, just giving hints here- so research away!

While I am NOT disagreeing with you CL. I have been at the local poultry auction and they auction eggs. Some they say "these are hatching eggs" and then they sell others and say nothing. None of the cartons are labled and There is a dept of ag person there and says nothing. I have even seen people buying them to resell.
I also believe that the law is different for on site vs off site sales.
True, but if the eggs are for hatching then I do not think they require any labeling as to where they are from.
They should though, label where they came from, the date and what they are, in my opinion.

Has anyone relocated birds across states or country successfully? I'm wondering if it's even feasable or if I should start removing my emotions from the equation and get ready to sell my flock? I'm afraid if we move somewhere with the birds that when we get there they will all die from a new strain of Cocci. Is this unfounded?
I brought mine from California.
It was fun at the gas stations...especially in Oregon where they had to pump our gas & chickens were doing the egg song !!

So I candled eggs under my broody last night. Apparently my boy isn't doing his job well enough. I think it's just to many girls.

Out of 10 eggs, there is one definite and one maybe (even the 1000 lumen light wouldn't shine through that shell well enough). I pulled one of the eggs and cracked it open. Infertile, no bulls eye. At least she'll hopefully get one chick to raise.

That is a great story! Love it!
It was awful scarey at the time.
ALL of us were worried about each other.
Most had no power & no internet.
Cell phones went dead....a few charged their phones in buried cars and got messages through.
It was scarey.......................some of us went days with no power and were snowed in.
