Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

i will not go buy chicks from the farm supply store, I will not I will not. I have no money and it will over draw my account. I must not do it. Someone talk me out of it plz. I swear chickens and chicks are a drug. They are my drug of choice. I have $16 set aside to buy some from someone i already made an offer on hers. But a part of me wants to go buy even more despite having eggs in the incubator that should hatch in 2 weeks.
Plus chicks would take my mind off of Demon and his issues.

I used to work at the RSBG. Cuttings are usually taken in the fall except for early bloomers and deciduous rhododendrons/azaleas. Early bloomers are started in June. Deciduous are started in June and July, Low growing rhodies can often be layered.

Thanks. I have a greenhouse down in CA and it is killing me it is there and I am here. Thankfully it can be moved someday. Maybe by this summer we can have a Rhodie start party? Stop at every plant you see and rustle you some starts and share. LOL. Can you see us at Ikea splitting up plants, potting them up and eating.

Almost done! Just need to weave in ends, put a long ruffle on the bottom and some finishing touches! Love when it all comes together nicely

Precious. Is she wearing makeup and pearls.

Almost three years ago, a kid took the curve too fast, drove across the neighbor's driveway, through the fence, through my garden, and hit the porch. Insurance took care of my garden and porch (more or less), but the neighbor never did anything about the replacing the fence panel. I've asked, even offered to pay, but while he's never said no, he's never done anything either. I've planted shrubs that will EVENTUALLY screen that corner, but it's all sand and under a big leaf maple, so things take a long time to grow. I'm trying to figure out something really cheap (free would be even better) to screen that corner. I'm thinking twig fence or something. Any ideas?

How about some chicken wire on some poles and plant something like morning glories and sweet peas or honeysuckle. Or plant peas and beans.

I am in the same boat. I refuse to go out in the car because I know it has it's own mind and will end up at the feed store without me driving it. Man this chick thing is an opiate. Hold hands and repeat: Together we can do it, wait till the time is right. NOT NOW. Do not give into your cravings. We can do it together.

Just one more wouldn't hurt. Heck, nobody hardly notice. Easy peasy...

Hmm.. they would need a friend their same age, so you'd better get him/her a buddy. So get just two.

Two - well, what if you got both boys. That would not be so good. I'm sure you'd like to guarantee that least one boy and one girl from your pair. If you run the math, you'll find that if you get eight it the odds of all eight being the same sex are astronomical. But with just seven, that's not the case. So get eight.

Eight - well shucks, now that you are going to get eight, you might as well take advantage of the "buy 5 get one free deal", so pay for ten, and you'll have twelve.

Twelve - golly, that's not that many really. Might as well bump that to 16 to make it evenly divisable by eight so pay for fifteen, you'll get three for free for a total of eighteen.

Eighteen - that way if one gets sick you still have two sets of eight.

Two -- wait, if you have two sets of eight, why can't you have three sets? Your friends ask, "How many chickens do you have", and you answer, "Three sets".

Go buy twenty four birds.

Everything will be just fine.

Honest.

i went to the garage to cut up some organic pork leg. Hand saw.... Ouch. Punishing myself for wanting to go buy chicks. I have it in a big tote was waiting til it thawed, it's not thawed. It's for my dogs. my saw is dull too that made it even worse. But yes raising chicks is a drug for sure. It's way to addictive. They should put a warning at the feedstores by the chicks. Once you buy some you'll be back to buy more.
