There are only two species of alligator and the American is the largest, none ever recorded over a 1890 =/- kill of 19 something ft. crocs get larger at up to 20-22 ft here in the Americas. Salt water crocs can be larger still I believe.
There was a 20 foot croc at the Serpentarium in Miami in the early 80's when I lived there.

Oh, well he keeps me from being a guest on Hoarders. We're going to put together the nipple waterers tomorrow, I'll let you know how it goes. Always a gamble with glass, but I bought a backup waterer anyway.

[COLOR=800000]I've been collecting tin cans to make some of those "tin man" hanging ornaments- has anyone seen those (besides me?)  I've decided tuna cans are the best- just nail on posts for grit. I've been saving netting you get potatoes, onions, and turkeys in for use in the garden and harvest. I grab nice sticks out from under the kindling saw for "spare perches".  [/COLOR]

[COLOR=800000]I bought the saddle-style nipple waterers for PVC pipe online from Amazon, with free prime shipping. DH and I left the new darlings long enough to run errands. We could not find marbles to put in the small chick waterer anywhere close by, but we did find those flat glass beds for $1 a bag, so bought 2 of them from the dollar store. Our brooder is ready for the chicks![/COLOR]

I've seen the "tin man" things. They are cooling you need marbles, Freddie's has them in the game isle. But those flat glass beads should work fine.

What is the phone number, I would like to call some eggs sometime to see if they are developing.

okay, so I know that we need to give the eggs more time, but what about these 3 musketeers that hatched? Shouldn't they be moved intio the brooder after a day or 2? I can't see leaving them in the incubator for more than 2 days.

I could open the inCOOLbator for probably 5 seconds and retreive all 3 of them quickly and close the lid, and not hardly affect temp at all, and could get the humidity back up to 65%+ within 3-5 minutes...... yes? no?

I'm wondering if the eggs were old(er) from the breeder, and also, since they were stored at "outside temperature' in unheated barns/sheds, if maybe their development is/was slower? It was cold last month....

the one on Scotties toy box...if you look at the picture of the gator being held up by a front end loader really close, you can see it's been adjusted.

The Bronx Zoo had a standing reward ($50k) for any snake delivered to it alive which measured 30 feet or more...seems they kill any reptile of size and then take pictures. I read about the reward many years ago, and it had been set up in a trust years ago early 1900's maybe.
I believe there have been two snakes killed since I read about it 20+ yrs ago which would have won that reward if they hadn't killed them so that 20-30 guys could get their picture taken with it holding it stretched out full length.

RainMom, I would say, go ahead and take them out, but have a bottle of filtered water on hand in a spritzer. I would spray a time or tow (two...) as I get the other ones out.
