Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

let me know what time Monday; am also avail Tuesday anytime. I will probably bring several chicks as I am totally a newbie with breed ID, so you can probably tell
me what I have. I am just going by descriptions on McMurray and other websites to help with this

Chicks can survive for up to 3 days after hatch on the absorbed yolk. So 3 days from the first one that hatched. If you think your humidity can jump back up pretty quickly and you don't have anymore pips you can try to take them out quick and wait a few more days for the others. I usually wait 48 hours before taking any out. As long as I don't see anymore pips. But as for the others that haven't done anything yet, I would give them a few days longer. Some people have had eggs hatch on day 24 or 25.

this is what I was thinking- pull the hatched chicks in 2 days/48 hours. All I am worried about is 'waiting" for the golden rule of not opening the incubator and waiting and waiting and nothing else hatches, meanwhile my 3 musketeers are in need of a little legroom and a hot meal.

Thanks for the seasoned advice!

Wow. I tried to catch up with you guys but I would have been reading a long time. This thread is crazy!
In a good way :D

I finally got my incubator temp to stabilize at 99 degrees. Should it be 100 instead? I'm having a hard time remembering. And to decrease humidity, just remove some water, right? And what is a good humidity percentage for the first 18 days?

Ahhhhh I'm so excited! My eggs arrive on Monday/Tuesday!!

okay, just looked- now FOUR chicks have hatched. I now have hatched ALL THREE of our eggs - one Wyandote, plus the 2 EE's.

How odd that only one of the 13 eggs from the other source has hatched.

(Let's hope they are just latecomers and we wake up to a inCOOLbator full of fluff balls! )
