Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

I have made thousands of GF cakes and cupcakes, some from mixes, some not. I even had my own GF cookie mixes that were sold by an international company for awhile. We are GF, dairy free, corn and soy free. For more than 5 years I used no flours or starches at all- made muffins from pecan meal, almond meal, sunbutter, almond butter, coconut flour, etc, etc. Awesome stuff- terrible on the budget!
That is totally awesome!!!!!!! I have gone Paleo but also wheat and dairy free. Talk about a limited diet. Since I quit the wheat and dairy I can eat eggs again. I was alergic to the sulfor (sp?) in the yolks for years. (No one, not even me, wanted to be in the same room as me if I ate eggs.) Now I can eat eggs, especially "home grown" eggs every day without problems.

If you bring a cake to Monroe, would it be GF and DF?

This is us too. If you need any help let me know. Although Rainmom is likely even better a resource than us ;)
Thanks Jess!!! The frustrating part is the hubby isn't changing his diet. He keeps bringing bread and other items into the house that I can't eat. That being said, he is trying to be supportive of my changing diet. Oh, and his doctor wants him to go to a nutrutionist to help him lose weight. I'm guessing they may have him try Paleo also. I've lost almost 13 pounds since the first of the year.

I have been a quilter for 10 or 12 yrs now; There is a quilt group on BYC that does swaps occasionally, but we could do a WA swap.
Also, there is a quilt show at the Fairgrounds same day as the chicken show. I plan to do both.

Who's show? QA by any chance?
I'm in West Sound Quilters, our show is at the Kitsap Fairgrounds in Oct.

That's amazing!! We changed to Paleo because...
John has always had weight issues. We knew he had gluten issues and possibly dairy.
Jeanine had...issues. I stopped nursing and put her on soy formula. Only to find out after her having diarrhea for 6 months around age 2 that she had developed a soy intolerance.
William also had issues that were likely dairy and gluten.

We finally switched to Paleo to eliminate all of those things and immediately, my 3 sickly looking children, who previously *couldn't* gain weight, each gained 5lbs in 3 months!! Also, DH and I both lost 5lbs in those 3 months. Seems we all stabilized and helped our bodies by making that change. Many would benefit from changing to "clean eating" :)

Agreed. TERRIBLE on the budget, but WELL worth the health benefits. We are also MOSTLY GF/DF/SF as a family and I can't believe how great we all feel and behave when we're faithful to our diet. Today we took the kids to Dairy Queen. Got ice cream and french fries. Then we all came home to have diarrhea for the afternoon/evening. Pleasant huh? I can tolerate some yummy raw milk, but whatever was in that crap from today wreaked havoc on our bodies!! I can't believe they call it food. Ugh.

DQ fries contain gluten- because they are cooked in the same fryers. Commercial milk has been heated up so much that it's been ruined- and the natural enzymes that God put in it are gone, leaving your body no way to digest it. I used to cramp up within 15 minutes of eating at mcD's, finally said ENUF!.

Red Robin now guarantees GF fries- just ask them, and they have GF buns for burgers. (they have a contract with udi's) My son is in heaven when he gets to go to Red Robin. We bring our own corn-syrup free ketchup along. (Organicville)

Chipotle has GF options- their chicken meat is GF and burrito bowls are GF so long as you have the chicken meat. We skip the cheese and instead get guacamole and ask for cilantro on top. Yum

Old Spaghetti factory has GF noodles , but they changed to a corn-rice blend noodle, and so we never go there again. GMO corn wreaks havoc on 2 of the 3 of us, sadly!

Thank you for those suggestions! We do like to eat out occasionally (maybe once ever 2-3 months?) for convenience and fun, but find it SO hard to find places that don't make us sick. We were miserable tonight and I imagine tomorrow we'll have to stay home all day due to diarrhea :( I will write down those places and make sure ot frequent them instead!

yes, everything I make is GF/CF/SF. MOST everything is corn free also, and many (most?) are made with honey, agave, stevia or coconut nectar. We don't even have sugar in our house- but we do eat sugar occassionally- in a pre-made cookies, cookie mix, etc.

Hmm.....maybe I could bring my almond flour chocolate chip cookies.....those are always a hit......

I was under the impression that Paleo IS wheat and dairy free? My DD is my only reference... she loves my bread but rarely allows herself to eat it because it's not Paleo.

Love it that you can eat eggs now!!

The cake I'm bringing, sadly won't be Paleo. This old dog hasn't learned enough new tricks yet.
