Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

yes, everything I make is GF/CF/SF. MOST everything is corn free also, and many (most?) are made with honey, agave, stevia or coconut nectar. We don't even have sugar in our house- but we do eat sugar occassionally- in a pre-made cookies, cookie mix, etc.

Hmm.....maybe I could bring my almond flour chocolate chip cookies.....those are always a hit......

What is coconut nectar? It sounds yummy.
Where can I find almond flour, preferably in a small quanity just to try it out?
You all sound SO healthy, plus my DD, it's making me want to move more in that direction. Lord knows I could use more healthy habits even though we don't do much pre-packaged food. Most of our cooking is from scratch, but with more run-of-the-mill products.

Thank you for those suggestions! We do like to eat out occasionally (maybe once ever 2-3 months?) for convenience and fun, but find it SO hard to find places that don't make us sick. We were miserable tonight and I imagine tomorrow we'll have to stay home all day due to diarrhea :( I will write down those places and make sure ot frequent them instead!
Garlic Jim's has GF pizza crust, we get it delivered now and then (veggie pizza, because we don't eat meats with gluten or nitrites in them) and then once home, we have our broiler ready and toss some Daiya cheese on and heat it till melted. Vegan GF/CF/SF pizza :)

Amy's in freezer section @ Fred Meyer has GF/CF/SF mac & cheese that tastes so real, it's a miracle. My son loves it. It's made with Daiya. I make him mac & cheese at home also, but the Amy's is just a little creamier.

One of our favorite places to go "out to eat" is the Whole Foods Deli in Bellevue- it;'s not far- and it's sort of fun to pretend we're at a cafeteria. That's where i kyped the idea for the kale salad- and many more :) I snap a picture of their ingredient labels over the deli food and take home, write ingredients, and fake it till I make it !

I go to Whole Paycheck twice a month or more to stock up on stuff my son requires, and get treats like gluten free beer and good dark chocolate. WF is a ice place to shop, but I sure do miss my beloved Olympia Co-Op for the prices! The Oly Coop also has great deli stuff- black rice with mango salad- yeminser salada, etc, etc. I take pictures of the ingredients and them run home and make it .

Oh- and a trip to Trader joe's- OMgosh I could unload big bucks there- so many GF/CF choices. I was so elated when they put the GF joes in Olympia- it was like 3 miles from my house.
Okay, enough, I can chatter along all night and I need my sleep. I got my office walls in this evening, cleaned the little 6-pack's cage, fed and watered the other 10 (total 16 chicks here..), cleaned the woodstove out, and now need to get my buns in bed. Tomorrow will be a marathon of work, work and more work, with a trip to get a few party decorations in between...

Trader Joe's has "brown" almond meal in 1 lb sacks for $5. I prefer the blanched so buy from Honeywell online, but also buy lots of it. You can buy a lb of blanched (white) almond meal at WF, probably Fred Meyers, and any health food store.

Coconut nectar tastes like this amazing carmelish-type syrup, and it's sold under many brands but the one we use is Coconut Secret brand. We also use their aminos and their vinegar.

If you want resources on "Paleo" cooking, before they called it "paleo" it was a diet known to many of us as "Specific Carbohydrate Diet". It was designed for people with IBS and Crohn's, because Elaine Gottschall's daughter had severe GI issues and was healed by the no starch, no sugar, no preservative crap diet. Then, parents of vaccine injured kids who had IBS and Lympho nodular hyperplasia in the guts, along with helicobacter Pyllori and other immune system problems found Elaine, who began helping heal our kids guts. My son was n SCD for 5+ years, and I made all our ketchup, mayo and sauces from scratch with no sugar or starch. It was many hours in the kitchen! Anyway.... The original website is PecanBread.com. They revamped it recently. Very helpful!

I am not

LF. I'm just familiar with the Snoqualmie valley. And even then it's just my experience since 1992.
I live about a 1,000 feet up so my experience is driving through the valley looking at the floods.
It really is a situation where talking in general isn't very good as there is so many places that are different it's really a go ask the neighbor situation.
Neighbors will tell you things others with agenda's won't.

BTW..................
Yes, creeks can get down right mean in no time.

Yep. It normally was a 6" puddle flowing slowly but it could turn into a 20 ft deep torrent in hours. There was a sewer pipe over the creek at about 16 ft. and when the water hit that it rooster tailed like you wouldn't believe. Log jams. Very frightening. That was on Los Trompas Creek in Walnut Creek, Ca. in the middle of the Bay Area.

I live in Snoqualmie valley....i live right outside of Carnation. Part of my sheep farm is in the flood plan.....most of the valley is under water when it floods.....

to the person who is looking to buy in the valley....ask a lot of questions....you want to live on the hill. not on the flat part of the valley.
