We (my DD and I, anyway) LOVE LOVE LOVE THEM!!! There are 4 layer chicks, 3 meaties, 2 turkey poults, 3 ducklings, and 2 goslings! Boy are those waterfowl MESSY! I read somewhere "they have a special relationship with their water" and they weren't kidding! The goslings and poults are so amazingly personable! The way the goslings look at you make it seem that there is more of a brain in them than the rest. The separating wall already needs to be opened up between the 2 brooder pens as these guys are extremely active and busy!!!
Oh my, those are so cute, I wanted goslings as well, but too scared, not enough room for them to run around. Where did you buy your birds? Again love those goslings.

Can anyone tell me how to raise the humidity in the incubator? I have been running for a few hrs now and my temp is right at 100 but humidity is only at 39%. I know its suppose to be between 45-55%. Is it because the water was too cool?

Hi I'm from CA but I love this thread as I have said before...I have a question. Now that we have warmed up in the 80's this week my girls do not fly out of their yard. Prior to the heat they would fly over the fence in the morning then go back in and come back out about 1:30-2:00 in the afternoon. They have done this for almost a year now oh and when they could not get over the fence they figured out how to get up on the roof of the greenhouse and fly down from there. So their staying in the yard, now that the weather has warmed up, is really confusing to me. Am I reading too much into it there are no predators here that I know of that have them frightened and my dog they terrorized so she stays away from them even when fly into her yard to eat the lawn. Suggestions.

I think they are adjusting to the heat. Give them a week or so, also last year they were younger, mine used to fly the length of their run everyday when let out of coop, now they don't.

I've done several hatches but don't have your bator so I can't help you but some one will help you soon.

Humidity always depends on the surface amount that the water is covering. If you need humidity to go up, have a larger surface area of water. I hope that makes sense.

Thanks guys. I looked online and it said give it 12 hrs for the humidity to stabilize. So I will check it again in the morning. If its still not changed I'll add more water.
