Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

Hi all! I've been super busy this weekend but it was a great weekend too! I was so glad to have met some new people at the Monroe show and sorry to all those I missed or simply didn't have time to talk to while chasing after a hubby and 3 kids too ;) All the food was amazing and I'm so glad the potluck was a success. My kids LOVED the gluten free muffins and I really appreciate whomever brought them.

The rest of yesterday, and all day today were spent preparing to host a baby shower at my house. We had a great time with 14 ladies and blessed our new mom so much! It was pretty awesome to get to snuggle a newborn again for a little while too. Now that the house is all cleaned up again and the kids are asleep, I'm finally able to relax for a while. DH is preparing for his interview for the MD job, he flies to TX tomorrow and the interview will be 8 hours long on Tuesday morning. He'll be home late Tuesday night. Prayers are appreciated during this time for our family!

Will do Jess! Hope it as goes as planned

Well, not only has mama Lucy graduated the babies to sleeping in the coop, she hopped up on the roost without them and they were peeping quite distressed out there for a long time. 2 had managed to get up on the high roost themselves, but the other 2 were quite upset they couldn't make it. I put them up there and tucked them under her. I really hope all is well in the morning. We still have late night coop lighting for now too, but tonight I turned it off just now after getting them situated so they'll be still and just go to sleep. The youngest chick will be 5 week tomorrow, the next 2 chicks are 6 weeks tomorrow, and the biggest is 6.5 weeks and fully feathered. And of course, the biggest one is tucked completely under Lucy smartly while the rest of them are trying their best to find a place to snuggle. Guess tomorrow I'll have to rig up a temporary shorter roost for them to get it all figured out.

So I don't know if I mentioned that yesterday something in the poultry show set off my allergies again. I *think* it's the shavings! Every single time I visit my chickens throughout the day, I come inside to terrible allergies. I woke up this morning with swollen, sand-paper feeling eyes, swollen throat, runny/stuffy nose, and general miserableness. I took 6 Benadryl today just to control it! Good thing it doesn't knock me out because as much as I took, most people would be comatose! LOL I'm about to take my 7th dose of Benadryl and head to bed. That's a pill every 2 hours all day long to manage this issue. I may have to change our coop bedding because this is serious misery. The whole ride home from the show yesterday my eyes watered and I "cried" and couldn't stop it and I sneezed/coughed until I got some Benadryl into me. UGH. nuff said.

So I didn't pick up anything at the show but more need to have it's. But I did pick up a couple of cute Lemon Cuckoo Orpington chicks today!
