So I don't know if I mentioned that yesterday something in the poultry show set off my allergies again. I *think* it's the shavings! Every single time I visit my chickens throughout the day, I come inside to terrible allergies. I woke up this morning with swollen, sand-paper feeling eyes, swollen throat, runny/stuffy nose, and general miserableness. I took 6 Benadryl today just to control it! Good thing it doesn't knock me out because as much as I took, most people would be comatose! LOL I'm about to take my 7th dose of Benadryl and head to bed. That's a pill every 2 hours all day long to manage this issue. I may have to change our coop bedding because this is serious misery. The whole ride home from the show yesterday my eyes watered and I "cried" and couldn't stop it and I sneezed/coughed until I got some Benadryl into me. UGH. nuff said.
I know that tree pollen and grasses are VERY high right now. Think of your body as a cup, and the liquid inside is the allergens you are exposed to. Normally it does not get full in the course of a day, except when you are exposed to extra high amounts and the cup overflows, that is when you become symptomatic. That was me a couple of weeks ago. Normally I tolerate mold, grass and pollens with my meds. But I was also exposed to latex, which is getting worse and worse, and that overfilled my "cup" and got the swollen face. If I was you I would go to the Dr. and maybe go through a dose of prednisone. It got my body back under control(temporary fix though). I am gonna get tested for allergies again(went through that and shot series in the 80's) and see if I need shots again.
