I think I found my farm future... Please pray/think/meditate/send me happy thoughts about this. Leaving a career to be a farmer, sounds a little crazy, but let me rephrase: leaving a career I dread/can't stand that's making me despise computers, people and society, to be a farmer... yep that sounds MUCH better.

Happy thoughts happy thoughts happy thoughts!!! 125 acres of happy thoughts... OMGosh!!!

Hey, it's not far fetched at all!!! My brother did that when he was well into his 40's. He quit a draftsman job and moved to Tonasket to farm it worked out great for him. He always says you never catch him living on the west side again. So good luck to you. I'm praying like crazy!

I would like to thank all who posted well wishes and camaraderie support to me on my family issues. Love hurts sometime. We are all one big family on here and I appreciate you all. We need the start a club like the YaYa sisterhood. The BYC YAYA Chickenhood. We can do the happy chicken dance around a brooder light. So many hurt souls out there. Big hug to us all.

OM Gosh, I am not going to try and catch up on 300+ posts. Just poppin in to say

to all my friends. Man it was so great to see everyone that was at the show on Saturday, I had so much fun. My plan was to stay longer if DH did not come with me because I knew he would be board, but we also had planned a surprise fun day for our kids. That get together just made me want to do one at my house even more now. Speeking of my house, I just got word that the bank is looking over our offer now and we should hear in the next day or two if we got it. I really don't see why they would say no, we offered what they were asking! Here hoping

Hi Guys! Holly I am behind... Been a busy few days. My two youngest have a really bad cold. UGH I was able to get out and work in the garden yesterday it was COLD but beautiful. Excited to get my garden going. On another note the bater is going great. Its had a steady temp and a steady humidity. We are gonna candle them on Saturday so we will see then.
As for yall with family issues my heart goes out to you. I live it every day. I never meet my father he walked out on me when I was 6 weeks old... He lives in Eastern Washington SOMEWHERE I have tried to find him but with no luck.... I have not spoken to my mother in over 4 years. She made some very poor choices and put her wants over the safety of my children and then fallowed it up by blaming me for trying to protect them and telling me I was a mistake among other things. Then there is my grandma who was my world has dementia so bad she can no longer have a conversation without including the little men who live on the ceiling. No matter what way you look at it you love your family even if they dont deserve it and it hurts when that relationship is broken.

We all have our ups and downs and ins and outs... It's the ones who are there for you through it all that make it worthwhile!

Vickis Girls: I missed your post! So sorry! THAT IS AWESOME!!! Gives me shivers of excitement! I am hoping and praying and wishing and crossing all fingers and toes for this opportunity!

Farmin Momma: I will definitely check out that blog! I love reading blogs, especially about farms and chickens. Well, the farm I want to join up with is on the Olympic Peninsula, up near Port Townsend. The lady who owns it inherited it, and wants to build it up to its full potential and preserve it. Which I absolutely adore the idea of! It won't be "my" farm persay, but I will definitely treat it as though it were mine if I had the opportunity to work there. I've never worked a farm before, except my backyard, so I'm hunting and searching for an opportunity to learn and grow and figure out exactly where my heart dreams of being, and also building awesome relationships with like minded people. This opportunity is just too good to be true, so I'm just hoping at this point, that something will come of the contact I have made. I have emailed a lot of different farms in the area, with no response back. I'm willing to step out of my comfort zone and call this woman if I need to! Reading her story was inspiring and exciting! How awesome would it be to inherit a farm in your mid-60's and be the person that actually wants to see it thrive!? It always breaks my heart when family farms are torn apart because people don't want to be a part of it. My great aunt had a farm, it was sold when she passed away. If I had the money they wanted for it, I would've bought it. Everything happens for a reason! And I wasn't supposed to sow my seeds there.


OOH! So I scored some pallets on CL this morning, and the guy delivered them. Score! He was absolutely adorable! Score again! I'm probably way too old for him, but something about a man that removes his glove to shake your hand with a sparkle in his eye and an awesome smile, just makes me giddy. haha! Ok ok! He made my day!

For a few weeks the girls and I had been diligently setting aside eggs from our bantam cochin, because when a breed like that suddenly starts laying eggs every day I get suspicious about impending broodiness. No signs, no signs, no signs, nothing. I finally got bored of setting them inside and moved her eggs left from our 2-day trip to Seattle straight to the fridge. Sigh. Now she's broody and sitting on just one egg. Oh, well. She's not a proven broody hen yet, so I suppose it's just as well. I guess I was hoping to ditch the rooster sooner. He and I don't get along very well, but he's a good guy otherwise and all the chickie-girls adore him and he even loves Useless Chicken "Crown", our Sultan hen, and clucks and worries over her. I thought that a bantam cochin/bantam ee cross would be a fun barnyard mix. I hope and pray that if she hatches this egg, it is a pullet. Please send a lot of girl-vibes our way!

Refridgerated eggs will hatch. Just let them warm to room temp before putting them under the bird. They don't like ice cubes under them.
