Quote: We don't get to choose; they take your test scores and rank you. Lower passing test scores get thrown into Spanish or something easy; higher up and you've got Russian, Serbo, etc...and slightly higher is Korean and Arabic. I'm no longer fluent, but can read text aloud even if I don't quite know what it's saying (so I remember the alphabet easily) and can understand ramblings and shoutings in public and on TV. Like when Jack Bauer (24) battles Arab terrorists...I always knew what the terrorists were shouting or discussing. And it's kinda funny in public when I come across Arab ladies talking amongst themselves or to their families and they have NO clue that whitey over here understands 1/2-3/4 of what they're saying...about me.

Jess - you should enter this!!! http://www.motherearthnews.com/fair/fiber.aspx#axzz2O19vndhL

And anyone else who crochets, knits, etc.
Thanks for showing that to me! I WILL enter! I can't wait! Need to see how many things I can enter.

Quick question about incubating batches of eggs - I currently have 4 Ameraucana eggs in the incubator due to hatch on Monday 3/25, so I'll be locking down this weekend. However, I went out to visit CowGirlGrace again this weekend with a friend and casually mentioned that none of my bantam Cochin eggs under my broodys were developing so she gave me 12 more Cochin eggs! Do I need to hang onto those (turning them daily of course) until the Ameraucanas hatch or can I pop them in the 'bator now before lockdown? Since I'll be increasing the humidity this weekend I don't want to drown any of the new eggs.

It's cool, I can wait until next week to set them, but I was just kind of... impatient, and thought maybe I could get a jump on starting them sooner.

If these bantam Cochins hatch they'll be looking for new homes. Except for maybe one or two. I mean, I do have that nice VF banty coop from last year with only 3 little Silkies...

ETA: I'm using the Brinsea Eco 20 if that makes any difference.

Hey, it's not far fetched at all!!! My brother did that when he was well into his 40's. He quit a draftsman job and moved to Tonasket to farm it worked out great for him. He always says you never catch him living on the west side again. So good luck to you. I'm praying like crazy!

Oh GEEE... I was trying to lurk and catch up in the few minutes I have this afternoon, but I just could NOT pass this one up! TONASKET????? OMG!!!! I was born there! Left when I was 10. Can's imagine anyone wanting to live there. But hey... if he likes it that's great, somebody needs to.
