Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

Hi, Washingtonians!
People, please, help me to find a reputable breeder in the Western WA. I do not want the birds from a hatchery or Feed store. And I am interested in heritage breeds only. I live in Tacoma - Federal Way area. I found Bradley farm in Tacoma, but it seems they are very hard to reach ( I tried Facebook, e-mail - waiting for a reply for almost a week now, and there is not telephone number on their profile). Help me, please!!! I would love to have some Orpingtons, Marans, Buckeyes, Leghorns or may be other heritage birds.thank you in advance!
Go to the "breeds, genetics, and showing" forum, and look for a thread on the particular breed you're looking for, and post your question there. I'm not sure, but it looks to me like WA. is short on breeders. Good luck!

The BYC... where people go to have beastuiful babies, start new farms, buy new houses, have great pot lucks, and care for each other like(or better than) family

oh yea, we also raise a few chickens.

Hi There! And welcome to the fastest moving thread in the state!

And it's nice to see that you're looking for local breeders, it's great to support local and help maintain heritage breeds. I can recommend a couple of locals. There is Raincreek Pottery & Poultry in Port Orchard, and Lyn at Del Tierra Farms/Stoney Earth Farm aka Cowgirlgrace here at BYC. Lyn is near Gig Harbor. Lyn also does a CSA and can sometimes get a little bit behind in her replies, so be patient this time of year. There are a number of people on this thread that can help, so stay tuned.

eta: Also tailfeathers, a few posts back, has heritage breeds. He's in Granite Falls.

It's really amazing how FAST chicks grow and change isn't it! Of course I want to know the sex of these little buggers, but I've been told they'll be 6 - 8 weeks before it's possible. So I want to try to keep a week-by-week pictorial log of how they change as they get to that point. So at 3 weeks I've done two "photo shoots" of my 3 wheaten/blue wheaten Ameraucanas from Cowgirlgrace. Those little stinkers don't really like to stand still either! LoL

Here's this week's installment that I'm dedicating to SadieSue

I'm so hoping Dot is a girl. I think she'll be blue and she has a very nice disposition.....

Check out Dash's proud little tail here!
The others have it, too, but this was a super shot of the tail and developing face puffs.

They are SO pretty!! I think Honey is my favorite, she has such a pretty pattern! I took some pics of my chicks that are in the henhouse yesterday, my poor little brown leghorn is the ugliest one yet going through the change. She looks like she has been through the ringer. She is going to be pretty when she is finally feathered out, but right now, UGH. I wish I would have thought to do little photo shoots with them though, so that I could track all the changes. That is a really great idea.
