Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

ETA I have to admit that when my cousin's pullet who thinks I am her person walked into the wire kennel after I buried Suzzie, I had an evil aquisitive impulse to shut that door quick.

I'd have done it.  :p

But it would be wrong, and I have to live next door, but... ask robj: she's GORGEOUS, half Black Australorp and half Blue Ameraucana and right at POL so her comb and wattles are brilliant crimson.

But it would be WRONG.

here's a newcomer question: My babies are close to moving to the outdoor coop from the warmth of the house, around 70 degrees.
Won't it be a shock to then go to 50 degrees and even lower at night? Do I put a light out there and will it be enough to lessen the shock of the temp change? Or do they just go out to the coop for the day and then come in again at night?

Also, I was hesitant to even share because I really don't want to hear "oh she sould have been fine." So please, even if you think this, please don't tell me that. It would make it ten times worse and truly, what I saw was horrific and unusual and I know she would not have survived.
You poor dear. The hardest choice we make is to end the suffering of animals we care for. Even though they are hard decisions, our heart tells us it is the best choice to make. Know in your heart, you did what was right. My heart is sad with your loss.

So, I told you guys I'm a sucky photographer? Right, good. Here's the best shot I got of Opal the BPR and Ophelia the CM. and, as far as I can tell, only their beaks & combs are different. Any thoughts?

Yes, they are hatchery to feed store chicks. Top notch breeding.

ETA- clicking on it will make it much bigger

Look at these coops from Bob Bowling Rustics, he is up in your area WWA. I love how he has added old found objects to his coops and sheds.

I'll be look for old rusty decorations now at yard sales this year. I don't go unless I have something to look for or WE will haul home a bunch of junk. do check his web site.

I just went out to check if the babies made it up under Lucy. That same poor RIR was huddled alone on the floor of the coop. I took her in the house and let her warm up on me again. Tried to give her treats but since that was her first time inside ever, she was too afraid to take treats. Can't wait until the babies get a little older and stop being so skittish of me. Only one of the SS will come to me and let me pick her up. That's why I got that breed, I love their friendliness!
