Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

I don't think it was a bad choice. Sometimes, ya gotta do what you gotta do. In the end, the kids were fine, and I believe that was with some help from above. In the height of the situation, she had a clear head to get intuders outta there. There's a million ways this situation could have gone, she chose one. Somebody else may have chosen another.
It's strictly a matter of chance that the kids were fine. It was more important to get her children out of there than get the intruders out of there.

If she'd called 911 with a license plate, the thieves might actually been CAUGHT. Instead, they got away. What has she got to brag about? Nothing!

For RustyHen - here are some photos of Pearlie June just before she was integrated into the VF Banty Coop. I had hatched 7 Catdance Silkie eggs and 5 turned out to be beautiful boys. FlyRobinFly had borrowed my incubator to hatch her own Silkies and was nice enough to give me two from her hatch in exchange for use of the 'bator. One of those, the pretty buff - turned out to be a boy and now lives with zgoatlady's flock.

So after all the boys were sold or given away I had 3 beautiful girls - a porcelain, a lavender and gorgeous black. My black, Isadora died, leaving me with Lucille the Lavender and Priscilla the porcelain.

One day KMHunter and I took a field trip to see Karen Larson of Catdance Silkies and admire her set up. Well, you know some of us like to pick up souveniers when we visit a place so I brought homely little Pearlie June from her place. I think Karen said folks were calling her color "Creamsicle"? She looks porcelain with a little more buff tint in her wings.
She hadn't been held much, so lived in a bunny cage in my computer room for the first month where she got a lot of attention and learned that all good things come from me. By the time she was integrated, she was my little buddy. Although Karen's birds are all bearded Silkies, Pearlie June is a bit lacking in that department so has an exposed "chin" with a few scraggly feathers, but I love her. As I said, she makes up for her looks with a great personality!

During integration - I set the covered X-pen up next to the Banty coop so they can visit together safely for however long seems necessary. At night I would put her back into a kennel so she was protected from the elements. As you can see they were curious about each other during integration.

Lucille, peeking out from the Banty coop at Pearlie June. An anonymous bystander far in the background...

Not a pretty face, but she is proud of her fluffy butt.

Before integration occurred, Pearlie June and the newest babies would spend afternoons in the covered X-pen on our back deck. The buff who lives with zgoatlady's flock is in the background along with his buddy Priscilla.

Photo bombed by the buff.
Those are nice. I hope my chicks turn out nice. Two of the 2 wk old ones jumped into my hand today thinking I had a treat. Hand means good stuff. So cool.

BGMatt - I hope to be at the PNPA show!!! Yay! So I used to go to BG all the time, long story, but do they still have those awesome country g-sales out in Yacolt and beyond? Oh man... bank busters!

SadieSue - That last pic is hilarious! The buff reminds me of Big Bird!

Quick question: Are you the one with the show coming up? If so, when is that!?

Oh man... Alyssa Lies is on.

So today sucks...

It is the 5 year anniversary for my Grandpa passing on, 6 years for my BFF, and 19 years for my other Grandpa... All today... Not exactly the best day. Holding on ok. Going to send off some sky lanterns tonight. Always tell the ones you love how much you love them, life is too short.

And then I went home on my lunch break to find my furnace won't shut off, and my house was 80 degrees.

And then! I went out to collect eggs and one of my pesky pullets or other birds is pecking and eating the eggs.

AND THEN!!! My rabbit is acting like she's in labor, and I can't be home with her... And my buck is trying to lick all the Sevin Dust off the walls, I swear he's gonna lick himself stupid.

So I'm going to hide under my desk for the rest of the day and hope everything goes ok...

Someone let me know when it's safe to come out...

Oh T-storms!!! I wish I could sit and enjoy some T-storms... I drove across the country last summer and we drove through the most AMAZING T-storm in Ohio. It was beautiful... The skies were dark, lightning strikes followed by bellowing thunderclaps... So amazing!

It's difficult to lose the people we care about whether they are friends or family. I still miss my grandparents and it's been many years now.

And yes, I am the one with a show coming up - quickly. It will be running all 4 weekends in April. The show is Reservoir Dogs and it's not a show for everyone - lots of cursing and violence. It is about professional criminals and a jewel heist. I'm playing the crew boss. Very hard core.
When the men sat in on our rehearsal the other night, one of the guys I've known for a long time said, "I've always thought you were just a nice person, but now I know you would kill me." Typically not something I want to hear, but in this context - it was a compliment! As actors we want people to believe we are a character often nothing like ourselves, right?

Here is a link to the site with the dates and how to purchase tickets if you're interested. The show is running with two different casts - a men's cast and the all women's cast. We got to sit in on the men's rehearsal the other night and it's fascinating what kind of different energy both casts bring to the same script.
But be warned - the women are playing the show as criminals no less dangerous than the men.
