And better yet, if you participate in showing your coop...does it have to be immaculate and perfect? My yard is atrocious but I like our setup.

New giant pics I took today:

Oh my gosh. Those are so very beautiful. Man, you make me want some now.

Quote: While I do applaud you for finally speaking up (as you said, you have wanted to say it from the first time I posted it), this seems more like a bit of a snappy attack. Just the way it is coming across to me, but again the "written" word can be deceiving. But I take no offence.
I will tell you that until you are in such a situation you have no idea how you will react.
First off all of this happened in a total of about 8 minutes, from the time I told the woman in the truck to leave to when they finally got to the light and took off out of sight. I in no way knew that there was a threat until I had kicked open the door and the men were there with their "weapons" raised to me (which they dropped and lowered as soon as they saw my gun). I yelled to the kids to run to the house and lock the doors at the same time as I WAS DIALING 911! That is why Maxx was walking in front of the truck, to go home. By that time dispatch was transferring my call to the right dispatch for my area after I told her what was going on along with my address and at that point the men had already ran into the truck to take off. They were only about 1/3rd of the way down the street when the correct dispatch picked up and I had to say my address TWO more times before they would even let me tell them the truck plate number. By then so many numbers had come out of my mouth and my adrenelin pumping like never before I could no longer remember the plate number other than the first two and last two, which I gave them.
In NO WAY did I put my property before my children and I can tell you right now if Maxx or any of my other children had been hit or even a toe ran over I would have unloaded my clip into the tires as they drove away. The only thing I wish I had done different is to use my phone camera and take a pic of the plate number before calling 911.
My children are my life and I will never defend anything else over my children ever. I am proud of what I did and have no reason not to be.
But thanks for your input anyway. I do know that every one has an opinion and while I may not agree with every ones, I do not dwell on it, I only take it with a grain of salt.

You did do the right thing. The police are NOT always there to protect us like so many choose to believe. Crimes are almost always LONG over and the criminal is gone by the time police get to the scene. We MUST re-learn (not in your case) how to protect ourselves, our families, and our property for ourselves or we give up the right to feel safe. Great job Sarah.
Thank you very much Jess. I appreciate that.
Quote: Thank you both; I was really dreading having to deal with strangers; all the long-shot dangers aside (for which I have 911 on speed dial), the likelyhood of having to deal with somebody who will not leave and talks on and on about what I'm doing wrong with my roses, say, is always high.
I agree, just one of the many reasons I do not like selling on CL. The people that feel like they know better and you should have your yard this way or care for your chickens this way or that. Then there are the ones that want to talk for an hour, which some times I do not mind but a lot of times I have other people coming on the same day or other places to be and I don't want to be to rude by asking them to leave but some times it just has to happen.

Quote: I doubt that your yard is anything but immaculate. And if it is a bit messy, I bet it is nothing like mine

. This coop tour would be awesome, I would love to go and sneak a peak at other peoples coops. But I would be carful if Mr. CR would be attending not to turn your back on that rustler.

OMGoodness...we have had every type of weather that we get on the westside today. Except for the thunder that they were hinting at. Not that I would know, since JBLM has been training for the last 3 days. AND, I just looked out the window and there is an awesome rainbow. I love WA. (most of the time anyway)

There are those who respond with attack and those who respond with flight. My natural instinct is to attack and protect. Until you are in the situation you can not judge how a person responds to it. It is the fight or flight instinct. She is a protector not the protected. She can not help what she or I are.
