Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

Just five minutes ago returned from the Spaghetti Dinner/Wine Tasting Fundraiser we host at the wine shop twice a year for underprivileged youth ages 4-17 that are displaced from their homes. We did really well and raised over $600 for them.

But - LOOK WHAT WAS WAITING FOR ME WHEN I WALKED IN!!!

Excellent Question! I haven't caught up yet so if this question has been answered already, let me know.
I would love it if 2 or more of us could split up a bottle of eprinex. Would you be interested? Would anyone else be interested? Maybe even if you have already purchase a lifetime supply and want to sell a portion of it???? Any interest anyone?
I think that would be a great idea- (and I'm interested) but with all of us living so far apart, doesn't seem like it would happen very soon. We need to all get together for a "swap stuff" meet-up.

but.... I know WE are so darned busy right now trying to get a garden ready, move chickens to the new hen house, finish the hen house, fix fencing, etc, etc, we can't take off for anything. I'm embarrassed i have nothing planted yet. This is the latest garden I've ever had. Of course, since we got 3 inches snow this week, maybe it's a good thing!

I just now sat down to get online.

Wow, what a busy, busy, productive day we had today. New roof on hen house, all old shingles cleaned up and hauled off, some firewood chopped, chicken pens cleaned up, TMy son and his new best buddy got the "He-man-woman-haters" clubhouse swept out, (remember the little rascals?) . The will be painting it next time the weather is dry so they can use it for their tree house camp out spot. DH is considering giving them wifi in it, lol.

I almost got the wood shed emptied and cleaned out so we can re-arrange it and begin stocking wood to season for next winter. The baby chicks are looking gorgeous- all feathered and pretty, so they will be ready to go outside soon. Of course, they can't go outside, because we have no spot for them until the grown up group gets moved, hence, the rush :) No worries, we're almost there! (right, right??)

Oh- I found a roofing nail in my show- went right thru the bottom of my wonderful durable Sloggers wiht puppy dog prints. Boo-Hoo! So, I made sure when I ran for the extra bundle of shingles to get the magnet on a stick that DH kept saying was frivolous. Ha! My $26 sloggers are now no longer water proof and how about the hole in the bottom of my foot !!

DH and I could nto resit the organic steaks we saw at Fred Meyers this evening when we were looking for something quick o make for dinner. First steak in a long time- at least 6 months. yum! Baked a couple potatoes and stir-fried some asparagus in olive oil till slightly browned, sprinkled with fresh lemon juice and ground some chunky himalayan salt on it. Feasted like kings. But, alas, DH and I are both walking like we were run over by a truck, so we're going to go jump in the hot tub. We've got another long day tomorrow to get all the full grown chickens in their new happy place. Geez- we need 3 day weekends to get all this stuff done!

oh- also Carolyn, we buy GF flavorings and stevia, so have small brown glass bottles with glass droppers that I have saved for occassions like this. I probably have a dozen of the bottles- they are probably 3-4 tblsp size? ( 4 ounce? )

X2 Very nice! I love this. I'm building my coop/run tomorrow and this is very close to what I want! How big is your run?

X2 YAY!!!!

My run is 6' by 8'. My original plan was for 6' by 13', but the hardware cloth got expensive, even though we used the corner of our fence for 2 sides of the run.

Also, we bought the door for the run at Lowes for $20. We took their most basic screen door, and backed it with hardware cloth. Once we did that I stopped having nightmares about building a door from scratch.

Yesterday I finally got a chance to look at the Kennel parts I was given as scrap. I didn't do too bad! I got 2 3' gates, 3 4' gates, 2 6' gates, 3 4'x8' panels, 1 6'x6' panel and one 6'x10' panel. These will work nicely into my current expansion project.

So, yesterday I brought home 2 Silkie roosters (went to get one, but 5 yo begged for another one). I put them in quarantine in my greenhouse which is not functional at the moment. I was in and out a couple of times, making sure that they knew where food and water were and trying to make sure that they settled in after being moved. Apparently the last time that we were in there the door didn't get closed tightly and my dog got one of them.

I am so disappointed. The smaller of the two found a spot to hide, so he is ok. I ended up moving him into gen pop, because I was then worried about leaving him in there alone all night. Just went and checked and the girls are bossing him around. The poor little guy. He is so sweet though. I named him Sirius Black, though he almost looks more like a blue. Of course, the one that got killed was the one that DS picked out, so I told him one of the chicks could be his. He picked the SLW, and wants to call her Dude.
