No lettuce????? Uh oh. DH gave the chickens a bunch of lettuce yesterday for a treat.
I have fed my chickens lettuce without any problems for years. Ducks maybe different, but it could have been coincident. I don't know what either green could contain that would be toxic to an animal eating it.

So is the food that ducks can eat different than the food that chickens can eat? I just googled feeding chickens lettuce and spinach - many sites say they can. Here's a couple...

And - it's good to know they can eat asparagus - 'cause my girls are known to dust bathe in my asparagus bed. I sure hope they didn't kill it. I've often wondered, as I watched them chow down on the ferns, if it was OK for them.

Thanks. We've fed them lettuce, too - but not in the quantity they ate yesterday. I had to laugh when I looked in the yard and it looked like lettuce was growing in the grass. I told my husband he had just made a big mess of the yard (because I didn't think they'd eat it all). They ate it - all of it.

So I've been out of touch for a little over a week so I'm playing catch up. I started going post by post and now I'm skipping through the woods. Welcome to all the new peeps and hopefully I don't miss anything cool!
VF you are Very Talented. I did see the other pics of your place a ways back and I was very impressed with all the cool things you got going on over the hill! Hopefully I get a chance to meet you at the next get together.

To dye them we just used 2/3 cup water and one pack of Kool-aid whatever color you want.

Have you watered since splitting? Try a light household fertilizer also.
Yes, watered, no, fertilizer... I am thinking where it's at now might not be enough sun, it's got a few trees above.
I don't think it is possible to kill Japanese Anenome if that us what it is. Give it some water. It's getting dry for so early in the year.
I was looking online to try and find a better picture, no such luck. But, I do believe it is a variety of Dianthus because the flowers are uber-small and the foilage is very grass like, the closest that looked like it was Firewitch, only with smoother pedals and more light green in the center (really just the tips of the pedals are bright pink). I think I have some pics to take this evening, I will see about posting the shameful wilting plant this evening

Cool! Do you have a picture of her? They were such cute chicks.
I will upload some pics today - pinky swears it.
I bet you could even move some dirt/manure in it and oh yeah, you could mix some concrete in it or even use it to store other junk in it.

I just stopped biting my tongue around them and it's been good ever since!

Hi everyone, I have been having computer troubles, and troubles with my daughter. Then the poop hit the fan this past week. My dearest daughter was drinking, and her soon to be ex-husband called me for help. Before the evening was out my DD was arrested. She had been planning on going into a rehab center the following morning, and so I have spent a good deal of this week, getting her out of jail, and into rehab.

If that wasn't enough, I was already committed to going to Des Monies IA on Tuesday, to pick up our new Komondor puppy. Ava aka Eva has been the very best part of this week. She is now a service dog in training....
Oh, JustBugged, sorry to hear about your DD. Prayers your way for her eyes to be open to the harm she's doing to the family. Some people just can't see what they are doin', ya know?

How fun you got to go to Des Moines! (Or Dem Wah, as my GPS calls it, LOL!) Sounds like your little Ava has a wonderful new home! Congrats!

SO we are gonna try again... Went and got 3 turkeys today... 2 Bourbon Reds and 1 Royal Palm.... I hope they make it this year... Last year within 3 days they all died... They are expensive little buggars
