Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

Here are a couple of updated pics. Just taken with my phone, as I cannot find the adaptor to get the pics off my camera to the puter. It takes one of the bigger cards and I do not have a slot on my laptop for it. Boo.

This is Flo Jo, the little brown Leghorn who thinks she is a Roadrunner. Her comb seems awfully large for a girl, but I have never had a Leghorn before. Maybe this is normal?

Here is Sirius Black, my lovely Silkie roo. Logan loves him. He does not feel the same about Logan. Poor kid.

This is my sweet little frizzle bantam, Hedwig. I was hoping she would be buff, but it's looking like she will be white. She was an impulse buy when I went to get my seed potatoes and I am hoping really a she.

Here is an updated pic of my little Golden Laced Polish. Spiky feathers all over the head, but they seem to be rounded rather than pointy, so I am thinking will be a hen.

And, here are Hermione and Buckbeak looking out the window.

Sorry there are so many. I am really loving my chickens this time around. And it is really helping teach Logan about the life cycle and responsibility. He loves feeding and watering them. I am going to start working on a nipple watering system this weekend. I can't wait!!

Yes, watered, no, fertilizer... I am thinking where it's at now might not be enough sun, it's got a few trees above.
I was looking online to try and find a better picture, no such luck. But, I do believe it is a variety of Dianthus because the flowers are uber-small and the foilage is very grass like, the closest that looked like it was Firewitch, only with smoother pedals and more light green in the center (really just the tips of the pedals are bright pink). I think I have some pics to take this evening, I will see about posting the shameful wilting plant this evening

It's sounds like seathrift also thrift or pinks.

Hi everyone, I have been having computer troubles, and troubles with my daughter. Then the poop hit the fan this past week. My dearest daughter was drinking, and her soon to be ex-husband called me for help. Before the evening was out my DD was arrested. She had been planning on going into a rehab center the following morning, and so I have spent a good deal of this week, getting her out of jail, and into rehab.

If that wasn't enough, I was already committed to going to Des Monies IA on Tuesday, to pick up our new Komondor puppy. Ava aka Eva has been the very best part of this week. She is now a service dog in training. She flew home with me in the planes cabin, and was completely calm, and content to lay quietly under the seat and at my feet. At 12 weeks old she is still a bit of a idiot on the leash, but she is already getting much better. She had never even been in a car until Tuesday, but by yesterday afternoon she had learned to getting into the car by herself. My DH and I are head over heals in love with her.
SO stinkin' cute!! She looks huge for 12 weeks, are they a giant breed??
NEAT! I saw your post and have been curious if the flavor ended up on the eggs...thanks!
I wondered that too. Will have to try that next year. I think I would just use the generic Kool-Aid to keep it even cheaper. When we were kids, my mom would do some with onion skins and they would come out looking tie dyed. I would like to try that, as well. Actually, I think someone here did that too?

The only thing I found with the koolaid is it seems to leave a film of color on the eggs n when you touch it it seems to rub off until completely dry. It also bubbles up around the egg. If you want bright colors I would use food coloring.

RustyHen - Those Seathrift and Thrifts are a little more poofy than the flowers - DFH promised to nab some photos for me after his lunch

Weird little flower I can't find anywhere....

Alright, this has been bothering me for a good long time and I need to do something about it. My chickens are and have always been way too skinny.

I'm just curious - what are their ages and where are they in the pecking order?

My little Latte has a more prominent breast bone than the others. That said, so does my Drama, but she has a mighty wide load at the opposite end to make up for it. With Latte - I figure it's because she's had such a challenge working her way up the pecking order.
