Kim's vet is in Bellevue. i think his name is Bruce ??? well known for his chicken care.

The Vet that was on here and does this procedure is CMSDVM in Tacoma. Sorry I don't know her real name. When I contacted her about it she said it worked best for chickens under 6 weeks, but there were other things available. I decided to not keep the roo, so never followed up. Not sure how to contact here. She hasn't been on in a while. Maybe there is an email or link to her clinic on her page.

Russ
thanks for all the good tips. I will try to contact them.

I only have one left, one poor, solitary cock. He's so despondent. He keeps looking for all his girls, but they are gone. All gone. No ducks, no chickens. It's so quiet here.

BUT, we get 100 Cornish X in 8 days!

Quote: A very simple answer / solution to this is watch / listen to the chicks. If they are all far away from the light they are too warm IF they are huddled tight under the light they are too cold. IF they are just milling about they are just right.
I am NOT saying this is the best or only way to judge the temp in yer brooder. This IS the way I do it and it works for me. Just FYI
That's how I do it too, I just have a therm in there so I know what the temp is. Behavior is a much better indicator of if they are comfy or not.
Well my girl is impacted. She woke up this morning and still had a crop full of what feels like grass. I'm giving her water with ACV in it, a little greek yogurt with grit in it, but she's not taking much. I wish I could get more grit into her! She just won't eat it. I'm massaging her crop downward as often as I can. She doesn't seem to be improving.

NO AVC, that will lead to sour crop. Just water or the bleach water.
Quote: Another diver secret is a mixture of dish soap and water(1TBSP per quart) and a few drops in the goggle and rub a little and rinse. Lasts for about an hour each time.

Can I share more photos from the first day outside? I took about 30 before I had to go inside, but only 3 turned out.

I am offering my Splash Orp rooster to anyone that want one free. He is just too big for my hatchery girls and I don't have enough of them. He is rubbing them raw even with saddles. He would do best in a large flock or with a group of large girls(8lbs or bigger). If I get no bites he will be processed this weekend. He is a good rooster, docile and learning to stand up to predators(especially dogs). I hate to get rid of him but I can't have my girls the way they are and not gonna add a bunch more just to avoid overmating.

I can deliver to any I-5 exit between Portland and Lakewood(127)
