All Righty Now!!! My Peeps!!!

Speaking of chicken baths, I need to give my roo a bath. We got some DMSO (sulfur) gel to put on his bare red/irritated behind. Sulfur kills mites and this stuff is used on horses (not for mites), so I figure it should be safe for a chicken. I can't wait until he's cured of mites and starts growing some tail feathers!

I was told once by my naturepath to try DMSO on my elbows where my pain is the worst from the nerve pain. It did help, but did you know that it soaks into your system and you can actually taste the foul smelling stuff?! It was horrible!!! I had to go take a shower and get it all off my skin, then pop a huge bowl of popcorn and chow down until the taste was gone and my body filtered out the rest of the DMSO from my system! It was...interesting. I hope it works for your roo though!

Well I raised the brooder lamp tonight. Nothing covering the brooder, it's just a storage bin with mesh on top and the lamp is maybe about 3' from the floor. Those chicks are toughening up quick! I let them out today too! I chased all the big girls and the 10 wk olds out of the run, shut the door, and let the 3 week olds have it for a couple hours. They were so happy! Running, flapping, flying like crazy! I think I'll do that every day from now on.

Lucy is broody. The 9-11 week old chicks are resisting roost training but I'm still at it each night. Tomorrow I am going to move Lucy to the rabbit hutch and persist in keeping her there this time, for the sake of the rest of the flock. She chased everyone away from the nest boxes in the coop all day long and we only got 4 eggs from 8 layers (not including Lucy since she stopped laying)...2 of those were on the dirt in the run and 2 were on the shavings in the coop...in poop. So, if she goes back to those boxes that's fine during the day but each night I'm going to move her to the hutch since she's ornery to all the layers.
