I was in Vancouver in April and coincidentally found a poultry show. IT WAS AWESOME! I didn't get any contact information for the person showing their gorgeous English Black Australorps. I have puppy mill australorps and am starting to have some issues. Does anyone know of the people who show these beautiful birds and can share their contact info? I would be so grateful.

Hey renart, long time no see!!!

How's everything going, are you busy as can be? We've had several new folks in our area join BYC lately. We've talked a little bit about a Kitsap get together. Any interest if we do?

How's your garden this year... mine not quite as good as I'd hoped. Are you the person that did pea sprouts? That still intrigues me.

Still haven't put the stick built boogers totally together. Took 4 adults to take apart and transport, and my husband the entire day yesterday with our son and a 'comealong' to get them maneuvered into position in our yard. The 12 newbies and my 4 prod. rirs currently occupy the A-frame. Had to move the banties out into a dog run as MySweetRoo wasn't so sweet to the only hen Black Maran, and she's in a gerbil cage on my kitchen counter in recovery and thinking that my head and shoulders are awesome spots to sit. Sigh. Anyone in driving distance want some Black Maran roosters? A couple Icelandic roosters? I made a post in the 'sale' section. Need to put together a Craigslist post at some point. Need pics where Jon's holding the boogers still.

There are a couple of shows that you'll want to go to this fall. One in Vancouver by PNPA, the other in Chehalis by WFF. In the spring you'll find them in Monroe and Vancouver, not sure about Chehalis because my brain is swiss cheese. The county fairs are hit and miss for poultry, for example the Kitsap county fair has a couple dozen chickens. It's cute to see, but not what you'd be looking for. I haven't been to the Puyallup Fair in a really long time, so I don't know how comprehensive that might be.

The Washington Feather Fanciers (WFF) has a list HERE . The Washington BYC members sometimes use these as an excuse to get together for a pot luck and face-to-face meetup. As the time approaches you'll see/hear more chatter for those participating. I don't show, but I like the get togethers!

I was there, too, as many of us were. Great to see so many beautiful birds, huh? I don't know who showed the Aussies but some of the others might. There is also an Australorp thread here on BYC with some very friendly folks. You might want to say hello there, too.

So this year... I've been told I NEED to go to some poultry shows so I can see Heritage Rhode Islands. Other than Puyallup and my county fair (Jefferson), Anything within reasonable distance of the Peninsula?

You'd have to go on the individual club sites for exact dates. Also worth mentioning is every Feb there's the Prairie Hatchers 4-H youth show in Ridgefield, which is youth only for entries, but they have a wonderful auction there that is a good place to acquire stock.

Twinberry, Lonicera involuctra. It usually gets listed as a shrub, because it's multitrunked. It's a shrub honeysuckle, but not a ground-eating thug like the two I have: Lonicera fragrantissma (winterblooming) and L. amurensis, which is good if you're making a hedge around an industrial site but otherwise, no.

It has ripe seeds now...the berries, which have that dark skin but are soft like a red grape inside with many tiny seeds.
If anyone wants me to save them some seeds, PM me.
