Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

Ok I'm just jumping in here with both feet, I'm in oak harbor n would like to ask if anyone has our know where I can get a laying black copper Moran hen
As in a Black Copper MARANS hen that is of age & is laying ?
Are you looking for one that is broody ?
Or just one that is laying ?

The breed is from MARANS, FRANCE.........a town in France.
So 1 Marans hen is the same as 4 Marans Hens they are MARANS>

Trying to help here, not harm, and maybe, we'll find one.

If you are on Face Book .. look up a page called " The Roost Classifieds of Washington ' .. its a great site and I have seen Marans advertised on there before.
Good Marans breeders here would include Sarah Merry, she has very nice BLACK COPPERS and also ZGOATLADY has nice black coppers.
Hopefully this helps.

I am going in a different direction and selling all of my Rhodebar chickens. They are all from Greenfire Farms. One breeding pair, laying $40 and a quad of two months olds, three hens and one roo $60. If you are interested PM me. I live in Carnation, pick up only. I also have a pair of Black Appenzeller Spitzhaubens, from Greenfire, ready to lay $50. I am being overrun by chickens!

Hey CL, sounds like your new place has all sorts of nice new features, I'm a little jealous since I haven't had AC since leaving E. Wash. when I was a kid.

I've been working in the garden quite a bit this week. The lettuce and spinach I wintered over are nice a big now and providing plenty of greens for us. The spring planted ones are coming along well. Snap peas are starting to bloom -- the best I've gotten at this place -- so glad they have a sunnier location now! This week I've put in all my cukes and winter squash. I don't do nearly as many as you but enough to keep me busy and supply what we need. These hot days have made it hot, sweaty work.

I'm trying something new I just read about. I'm putting a cover over the top of my cukes and squash, like a small hoop house -- leaving the ends open. It's supposed to give them the heat they need between now and July. I hope it works since I had such a rough time with them last year.

And in my spare time I'm integrating a blue Marans pullet into my flock. The plan was to have her be part of a trio being added at the same time, but my best laid plans and Murphy's law didn't agree on anything, so that's what I ended up with.

She hatched from some Helen Byers eggs in Feb. so she's already 13 weeks old. She has a really sweet temperament and after three days of working with her and my hens it's going pretty well.
