Hi,

New to Wa thread. Just moved here from Nv and looking for a place to rent that will allow me to have chickens. I'm working in Kent so hopefully will find a place within 25-30 miles from work. If anyone knows of a place or has one for rent, its just me and my dog. Had to place my girls before I left so excited to hook up the incubator and get more soon.

HEN OR ROO???? Here are some pictures of Luna the Speckled Sussex. She is 16 weeks old. Her comb and wattles are still pretty small and pale. She hasn't crowed or shown any roo-like behavior, however, she has those pointy tail feathers!! I really hope she's a hen. What do you think?






Here's a picture of feathers she recently lost.

I agree with Hinotori, looks like a girl to me! Maybe I will get a Speckled Sussex one of these days, love the look.

I'm to far south to be any help on housing, but I hope you have good luck there

My wife Kim is having her custom backyard chicken coop delivered next Saturday, October 4th.

She will be looking for some laying hens to start her flock - probably 3-5.

We are located in Granite Falls, WA. Can anyone suggest where to get some chickens locally?

@YNOT2K How far would you consider driving? You can check with @DeltaBluezTess who's in the Duval/Carnation area.
You might also try going to one of the shows. There are always people selling birds. October in Vancouver or November in Chehalis. You can search this thread and see the post with show information posted a few weeks ago.

If you want some eggs to hatch, let me know and I can hook you up. Mostly easter eggers if you want to hatch some of those. I'm pretty close to Kent.

Wow! Three out of three say hen! I am so happy! I was sure she was male with those pointy tail feathers. I'm so glad I asked! Thank you!
