I have filled up all the waters. An extra 6 buckets of drinking water for the horses and 2 large water founts in each coop. I just filled 3 jugs of drinking water for us. Our well is a shared well on the neighbors property. Hoping that they might have a generator but haven't had that conversation with them yet. The longest we went with out power is 36 hours. Apparently a big wig for PSE lives on our grid.

Lucky You…..I too was fortunate when at 8:30 am Thanksgiving the power went out and my neighbor who also works for a power company (PUD) jetted out to see if he could find the problem, bringing the power back on by 10am…..I had just finished the rolls, pie and mashed potatoes…..We have a wonderful cookable wood stove but unfortunately, Well pump and septic pump without power isn't the best for company…….vbg……no generator yet……have used hot water bottles wrapped in towels to keep the wellhouse from freezing one year of 5 days straight no power, foot of snow…..fingers crossed for everyone…….

HInotori - We did the same thing when the power was out for five days, expect for melting the snow part. Our well pump works off a generator and the water is excellent. We would heat up water on the wood stove though to bathe and also to pour in the water troughs to melt the ice off. We survived somehow, although I'd prefer to not have to do it again.

We have one of those camp shower bags. I put the warm water in and we could have a little shower instead of just using a washcloth.

man it is just pouring down rain today let the girls out to free range to see what they would do with it raining they went out ran around and went back into the henhouse pen area lol I was a lil surprised they went out so fast but they didnt hang around in it long

This is not good weather.... Lots of rain + Lots of wind = Lots of down trees

Just had one fall on the fence...good thing there were a couple of trees in the way, otherwise it would have completely broken it instead of just bending it a little .

Nothing here yet. I'm waiting....running home after work as fast as poss to make sure everyone is safe and warm.

The railroad had a truck going down the line cutting the trees that fell across this morning. Maybe they are going to use the tracks more this year. We had a passenger train go by a week and a half ago. There hasn't been a train on the tracks in about a year and a half.

My Orp chicks are 8wks and I moved them to the big girl coop this week. They spend their nights in the coop in the wardrobe box/brooder, and their days in the ex-pen in the run. So far so good.

Out of 11, I for sure have 2 roos, and 2 possible roos. I'm keeping Alistair the Black roo for sure. Yardley, the Lavender roo I'm undecided. The possible roos are Georgiana and Philippa (Pippa) two of my three Jubilees.

These English Orp chicks have been so much fun and are so docile. I just wish I could tell who was a boy a little easier. It seemed more obvious with my other chicks. I can have gentleman chickens where I live, I just don't think the neighbor would appreciate 5 roosters, nor would my hens! I love them though!

Yeah, looks like I need to start calling the Duchess of Devonshire GEORGE instead! I'm in denial! lol
George might be needing a new home in a few weeks. These chicks are from Papas Poultry. The Jubilees are Gisbrechts line

I love Papa's Poultry! He has some great birds. George is a great name for your Jubilee!! I had a breeding pair of LF chocolate Orpingtons but a coyote got them both. Someday I'll replace them.
