Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

Thats interesting, i would have thought that Buttons would live a bit longer than that…..Ya know, bantam chickens can be kinda tiny too…tho a bit bigger Bantam Faverolles are kinda sweet, D'unccles are lovely and a fav of mine are D' Anvers….used to have a hen that was my pocket pet, smaller yet are the Serames (sp)…... Do male Quail make loud noise like regular chickens?

I'm pretty sure buttons live to about six years. Mine are less than a year. About five months and super healthy. They lay an egg almost every day. They've never been exposed to other birds so no diseases or anything. Hens live shorter lives usually. They can make noise, although not too often, and usually not loud.

I'd love chickens as well, but don't have the room either.

Of my seven button quail, I'm keeping one. He didn't have any hatch mates and can't figure out how to be a bird, so he stays by himself (he gets aggressive with other buttons). His name is Spankie. This is him:

Five eggs today from my five girls! Woo hoo! I have a barred rock, a black australorp, a speckled sussex, and two buff orpingtons. The orpingtons were the last two to lay, but now everyone is on board! Yay! The biggest egg if from the australorp.
