Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

Hello there. My name is Cory. I Just purchased my first 8 chicks yesterday from a private party in washougal washington. 1 black silkie and the rest Cochins. I really want 2 more silkies if possible to be raised with these babies. Any chance you still have a couple? I am a veterinarian who works in Portland but lives in Battle Ground. My email is [email protected].
Thank you for your time(;

!! I am constantly hatching out silkies (can't sell the eggs to eat, they're too small, lol!) but I'm no where near Portland or Battle Ground. I have several chicks that have recently hatched, more that are going to hatch soon, and some juveniles I'm growing out. Check out my website in my signature. If you're ever up my way let me know. I'll be happy to set you up with more Silkies. I'm sure there are some fabulous people down your way who have them as well though. :)

is this a federal program with differing state regulations for the participation or is there a basic federal standard  but some states do more then the standard requires? if that makes sense

It is a federal program but each state is different in how it is implemented. Some states also have optional testing, or include more tests for different things depending on size and purpose of operation.

Washington State Guidelines are found here, the vast majority of flocks are subset E which includes Pullorum Thypoid and Avian Influenza testing: http://agr.wa.gov/FoodAnimal/AvianHealth/AvianNPIP.aspx

Welcome!

Hi, do you know which week the poultry are shown at the state fair in Puyallup ? I know it's sept 11-27 , but is it the first week or the second week of the fair? It's not on the website yet, but I thought one of you folks might know.

I have some cockerels that I'm willing to give away to a BYC member if you want to grow them out for processing. I have a couple that are 10 weeks and 5 or 6 that are 5 weeks. The younger ones are with a broody and can stay with her a bit longer since the weather is so cold.

I learned by accident that they only have chickens on the weekend. I was there mid-week. :-(
If you go to their website and look for the links for people showing their animals it should give you the dates. And it will probably depend on whether you're showing open class or 4H.
