Last time I checked with her a couple of months ago she wasn't selling hatching eggs or chicks. I have 2 Hamburg hens from her stock a couple + years ago. They are pretty gals and I would love to have a rooster for them.

Do chickens suffer from seasonal allergies? I'm still tryin to figure out what a normal level of sneezing is, and they are getting the cottonwood stuck on their beaks so is it bad if they are sneezing at all?

At least Vanilla comes from orchids now….There is a company trying to GMO it and others like that yellow stamen powdery stuff that is so expensive so it would be easier to get….The down side is that if they get their way, it would not be labeled differently because they are using natural substances and it would take an industry away from people that depend on it. Heard it a month or two ago…...

The "yellow stamen powdery stuff" you must mean Saffron? As in Saffron Crocus ? I just gave thousands of them away to a friend...

Well, my last hatch is in the hatching bator, on day 22....I know they were all alive & kicking several days ago, candled at lockdown...but nothing pipping so far...............

So we waite....................................

newest alien chicken fact...
These guys are about a week and a half old. They are the size of a "LF" chick now (even though they ARE a LF, these guys are pretty tiny). Ready for it? They have wings. As in "can flutter to the 8 inch tall side of enclosure (kiddie pool) to perch and can jump off it and get a good foot or more away before touchdown." Due to tiny bodies... wings look almost droopy and downright awkward. Alien chickens... I tell ya!

And... just because I ordered all girls does NOT mean that they all are! And I am NOT allowed roosters by code. So... we shall see!

So... what does everyone think about the major increase in earthquake and volcanic activity in the are?

Add in the weird weather that has Alaska breaking YEARLY, not even just seasonal, highs... the typhons, the cold eather in Oklahoma, etc. I say tht the zombie apocolypse approaches and our chickens just became more valuable! LOL

Those are crocus stamens, only 1 per flower. The spice is called Saffron. Delicious.

Been a tough month around here so far. My elderly mom is taking a lot of extra time the past few months. I think I counted 7 Dr appointments in May. She's facing new issues and leans on me for a lot. I'm glad I can help, but it's exhausting some days. Plus I had to visit the dentist myself. My Marans hen improved her behavior for a few days, but in the end it wasn't enough to bring peace to the village. She's gone now and I miss her. She was a very sweet girl (except for attacking the littles). That also means I lost my only really dark eggs, and 1/3 of my eggs each week. Sure hope my Am kicks in again soon.

On the plus side, my spinach has been growing really well, and we have almost all the veggies planted now. I have a few seedlings that I'm letting get a bit bigger before I transplant. I have great hopes for this year's garden. Without our usual spring rain I think the strawberries are smaller than normal. I've watered 3 times now which is unheard of in May, but I WANT strawberries, I NEED strawberries!
