she has not logged in here for over a year. I'm not looking for chicks or eggs. I am looking for experience.

newest alien chicken fact...
These guys are about a week and a half old. They are the size of a "LF" chick now (even though they ARE a LF, these guys are pretty tiny). Ready for it? They have wings. As in "can flutter to the 8 inch tall side of enclosure (kiddie pool) to perch and can jump off it and get a good foot or more away before touchdown." Due to tiny bodies... wings look almost droopy and downright awkward. Alien chickens... I tell ya!

She's been busy! I think her hubby had surgery (??) I hardly ever see her online anywhere.
Mine were flighty as chick's but have calmed down for the most part. As for feathering and growing, I thought mine were older then they were by at least a week, but I was able to confirm hatch dates.

I put a 2x4 in there edgewise. They think playing double dutch and king of the mountain with it is the best fun EVAH! LOL

Well, what cruddy weather !
But I do not remember ever seeing a hot (or even warm) Memorial Day week end, either here, in North Idaho, or in California...I do recall some hysterical monsoon rains in NorCal, flooding camp grounds & keeping campers indoors the entire miserable week end......
It is about 51 outdoors here & we have not seen the sun for 3 days, and every hour it rains a misty, floaty rain that can float sideways................
The No-See-Ums are out in force !!

I have not opened my green houses for 3 days..................
And my last hatch of the year, a bantam breed, had 5 doing well in lockdown & on day 22 I inrervened, 3 had died, and I saved 2...now watch the 2 be both cockerels !

I can see it now: I'll have to buy more eggs...and turn the incubator back one................

The upside is Einstein is happy in his Lazy-Boy watching 3 different TV stations::::: He surfs from the Formula One at Monaco, to the Indianapolis 500...and then to the upcoming NASCAR race...and he is making me CRAZY !!!
So, I have run away to chicken land and sit talking to my wee birdies !

My 2 year old buff isn't doing so well today, and all day yesterday... She has some egg problem and I'm not sure how to fix it. I am hoping for the best but this is pretty bad for her ;(
