Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

Hi Carolyn and thank you very much, but I'm nowhere near Buckley. I'm outside Anacortes and it seems most breeders are further south unfortunately. I have seen her on the FB page and know her birds come recommended. I don't mind driving an hour or so, but to do a round trip of 3+ hours is tough.

Got this egg today from the black copper marans! She continues to surprise me! Love this little gal!!!

Here is some of the discussion on the dish soap for deworming, but they also talk of using garlic, ACV, chili peppers, etc in other posts. The post refers to Joel Salatin, who literally wrote the book on pastured poultry and has a highly successful operation - in terms of production, healthy animals, healthy soil and I'm sure it's a profitable business.

Especially post 33404 and 05

Hope this helps!

I know many of you have more cockerels than you know what to do with, but I'm hoping to find someone looking for a new roo who would be interested in one of my two boys. When one of my girls went broody last May I bought English Orpington eggs from Rainier Creek Orpingtons. Two of the five chicks turned out to be boys. They are now 15 weeks old and I'd really like to find them homes where they can grow up and live the rooster life. They were vaccinated against Mareks at 2 days old.
Here's Rosie:

And here's Freckles:

At 15 weeks they are already bigger than my adult Barred Rock and Buff Orpington hens. They will be big beautiful roosters. I can deliver or meet someone halfway if you are far away. I'd like to give these boys a chance to grow up. Thanks!

Hi Everyone from WA,
Its been a few yrs since I was on here. I had to give up my flock during a few rough pregnancies, a miscarriage & a beautiful almost 2yr old (this week) that came early. I think we are ready for a small flock. My oldest daughter is 11yrs & did 4-H with her dog this yr. She wants to add 4-H chickens too for this yr. Wondering if there are any 4-H groups around or near Bonney Lake for chickens? Our dog leader has suggested I become a leader for chickens in our group but I'm not sure I'm brave enough to be a leader of something I know very little about. Hoping to find a local group.
We'll be building a coop in a few weeks. Last time we turned part of a wood shed into a coop but the roof leaked & that didn't help the cleaning & upkeep when it was leaking. We'll build it slowly so that its done right.

Shannon
