Right now I have to Wyandottes And they are great. I plan to get about six more chickens. I'm getting them for eggs but also just as pets. I plan to keep them their whole lives. I can't decide whether to wait till spring and get some baby chicks or buy some started pullets in January. I might do a combination of both, maybe get two or three started pullets and then two or three babies in the spring. I like the idea of having chickens of various ages The problem is that the shipping costs for the started once is so high. And it seems like most of the hatcheries are pretty far away, does anybody know of any that are in the Washington Oregon Idaho area?
I am still getting acquainted with the site, is there a list of hatcheries or breeders by region? I live in Eastern Washington and can't seem to find much. I am interested in various braids, but mostly the dual purpose cold hardy ones.
You might try Craigslist. . Alot people selling out there flocks this time of year. Look for young ones
