Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

I saw that one of my EE's was clever enough to get out of enclosure. Went outside to put her back in but couldn't find her... Until she squeaked. Found she was sitting on 6 eggs, probably 6 days' worth. She'd found a little hiding place. Poor thing, guess she wants to be a mom?

OK, I do have a temperature and humidity gauge in the coop. It is very helpful. It is something I never would have thought to have until I got tortoises, temperature and humidity are extremely important with reptiles. My new coop will have good ventilation. Still working up the plans for it. I actually like designing and building and tweaking enclosures.
I have tortoises too!!!!!

It's funny about the overlap- now I search for healthy weeds like chicory/dandelion/plantain, etc., for BOTH tortoises and chickens.

What kind of tortoises do you have? I have a Russian and a pancake. It is funny how you suddenly like weeds. Heck, I plant them for gosh sake's! I'm fencing off a small portion of my backyard to have real grass in and the rest of it goes to the animals. End it will be full of weeds. Can't grow much of anything here anyway, I don't have soil I have rocks.

Are you going to let your Easter egg or be a mom? One of my chickens laid a bunch of eggs in the yard, like 20! Home right now it's failure because four different people tried to look for the stash of eggs and none of us found them. Until one day I heard a squawk, she was buried down under some dead branches I had cut off the tree.

Sorry about the random words in my last post. I was dictating and got interrupted and forgot to hit the stop button. So you heard some background words from the television.

I have 5 Russian tortoises (3 adults and 2 yearlings) and 2 box turtles. Tortoise math! I love pancake tortoises.

Yes, weeds are now highly coveted.

I had a Boxturtle at one time. I wish I had a less amount of time and money. And lots of land. I would have my own little zoo. People already think I do. I'm thinking about adding a rabbit or two to the mix. Haven't decided if I will or not. It would be one more outdoor enclosure to build. I also need to find out definitely if roosters are allowed in the city limits here. I keep getting conflicting information and can't find any updated information on the net. If so I will get one rooster. Not to hatch any eggs but just to help protect the hens.

It's probably good we don't have endless resources, we'd all have zoos.
