Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

We took one heck of gust but only knocked over a table I made a few years ago we have a large screen room off the kitchen and stapled
plastic sheeting up over the top screens placing a 1/2 inch plywood to the bottoms ones for the winter the gust tore part of plastic down although James the younger of us three re stapled it fast. the coop and Barn and a small carport are all three fine

This is one of the issues I have to plan for as I sit here searching for inexpensive, larger coop plan ideas. (I have 10 birds right now, hoping to double that.) I'm up on top of a hill and the wind my new coop will have to withstand is pretty substantial! Usually cheap DIY coops = PVC or other lightweight coops that turn into a giant kite in weather like this.

I have two pvc buildings my coop and "barn" they are geodesic neither is bothered by the winds they stand firm. one thing is to face them side or back to the wind

Yes, I was planning on making it a lean-to style building with the low side of the roof (and back of the building) facing the valley where the wind comes whipping up the strongest. I currently have my pieced together chicken tractor from last year that a neighboring bull smashed up when he got loose. The roof was trashed, so I have a large tarp stretched over the whole thing and the surrounding area attached via thick bungie cords to the steel fencing around their enclosure. So far this winter/spring alone we've ripped through a handful of grommets on the tarp and broken at least 3 substantial bungie cords. I have it strategically lashed down low on the wind-facing side so the wind will go up and over rather than catch underneath, but it still takes a beating.
