It has been 2 weeks since my surgeries so I got the stitches taken out and the incisions are taped while they continue to heal. I am a week away from being able to bear weight on my ankle and heel. I no longer need pain killer medication but I am taking Tylenol for the muscle spasms and muscle cramps. I still have some nerve damage that I think will improve over the next few weeks as the incisions heal. The pain I have had for the past year is gone so now it is just the temporary discomfort from surgery that I am dealing with for a few weeks.

It's good to hear that the pain is improving. Sounds like you're recovering well

The have had you in physical therapy right?

I was very fortunate just have the arthritis
not the pain after the ACL split the more I use the less pain I actually get unless it is in my neck

Anyone know what a blue Ameraucana crossed with an australorp or a RIR would look like? I ended up picking up some friends for my 3 hatchlings.

Blue Ameraucana crossed with Australorp would produce 50% Blue chicks and 50% Black. All should have pea combs and muffs. With the RIR, most of the chicks would be black or blue with varying amounts of red. All should be muffed and have pea combs. This is assuming that the Ameraucana is really an Ameraucana and not an Easter Egger.

Thanks! I got my 3 from a breeder in OK. I hatched two blue and one splash. If the feather sexing is correct I lucked out with the 3 and got a trio but I want to create my own EE mix flock. I wanted to start the crossing myself so I knew what all went into the mix. No telling with hatchery EEs.

Well, I checked out my hen that had a "corn" on its toe. We've had it bandaged for the past week. After I took the bandage off, I was able to peel back the "corn" and then proceeded to dig out what looked like the yolk of a hard boiled egg. No solid mass, just hard boiled egg yolk type stuff. My goodness there was a lot of that stuff in there. Finally, it looked like I got all of it out and that spot started to bleed just a little bit. I filled the hole with neosporan and bandaged it back up. All along, she has continued to lay eggs, so apparently the infection has been very mild. There has been no redness or hot-to-the-touch or sensitivity when we've touched the area. The only time she seemed to display any signs of discomfort was there toward the last of the digging out process when I started to make her foot bleed.

I am so thankful we got that stuff out. We'll check her out again in a few days to see how she's healing.

That's the consistency of it a lot of times. Keep it covered and watch if it returns.

Feather sexing is not accurate for Ameraucana or Easter Eggers.
