Yep.... know that. We were discussing the pronunciation of the word "Marans". In France they pronounce "Marans" much differently than any of us. That's what I was describing in my post. And if you click on the link I provided you can hear how the French pronounce "Marans". Hopefully we're on the same page now.

Hi everybody! I haven't been on here in MONTHS!! About 3 months ago my Chocolate Orpinton went broody and just wouldn't quit. Finally (after 2 months of this) I got some fertile eggs from a friend. Bantams...what did Big Mamma the Choc. Orp adopt!? They have feathered feet!

This last one just hatched on my lap. It has black legs and feet.
Also...being that I'm a rookie broody hen owner...do I need to protect these littles from the rest of the flock or will Big Mamma do it?
How did a hatching egg get in your lap ? It should have been either in an incubator, or under a broody hen.

I use them for the dog and cat food. Keeps that stuff well. Don't see why it wouldn't work for chicken food

That's kind of what I was thinking. I know they are a little expensive but it's better than having feed to go bad. I think I will you either use them or I will keep doing the 5 gallon bucket's with the gamma lids. Thank you for responding. It's irritating to make a thread and not get a single answer. Makes me feel stupid.

I have space issues here so the fact that i can stack them and still get in them sold me. And i love gamma lids
