Hey everyone! I'm looking for some Orpington pullets. I'm located in Gig Harbor. I would love a couple of Blues and blacks. Anyone know where I can find any? I've been having no luck with my searches.

I sold all of my Lav Orp flock to @CharterChick who has a cahrter boat at Westport....BUT I got my starts from Lyn Adams.incidently Lyn was working on Red Cuckoo Orpingtons last we talked...exciting huh ?

A shoelace is on your sneakers......cut off both ends, and thread them on a stem thermometer, cut off excess, hsng end in a cup of water, & it should work
Or you can buy the "socks" at all kinds of chicken hatcheries & supply places.

Does anyone know what variety I would get if I bred a paint silkie roo to a blue silkie hen?

Blues have BBS (blue, black, splash) genetics and paints are black leakage in whites (someone can correct me if I am wrong) with whites hiding any color genetics so you have a huge grab bag of potential mixed colors going on in this pairing. According to my understanding of genetics, there are too many potential outcomes that nearly anything is possible. It is why I stick with BBS and don't mix colors but some people like surprises if they are not breeding for show quality.

This could be helpful if it is legible. I don't think it shows paint but it gives you an idea how other colors mix with BBS.

My guess is there would be paint, black, and blue chicks. Leakage is likely

That is what I was thinking too. Leakage is desirable in paints but leakage in blues is undesirable. I am guessing any hidden color could show up with leakage and that would also be undesirable. My understanding is that paints should not be bred outside of the black/white/paint breeding.
