Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

Looks like you kept the 2 blues, a chipmunk, and 2 yellows. Is one of those the one I banded? They sure were an outgoing active bunch! Cuties!

Whenever I see your posts I think about the hatching eggs I drove down to pick up from you ~3.5 years ago. I still have my favorite, friendly hen from that hatch who is still laying eggs and flying up to roost on my arm when I invite her. She is getting old but luckily I have her children and great grand children in the flock so when she passes she will be survived by them :).

This is from yesterday.

Here are her children hatched May 5th. Rooster pictured is the father.

egg turner for my hova bator showed up today first run
is 2 blue, 2 green, 2 brown
Just 6 eggs in that big ol' bator? I have a really hard time just doing so few and seeing all that open space - which is why I always end up with WAY more chicks than I need.

Which Hovabator do you have? I started out with the 1602N then with the last hatch went to the 1588.

There you are! Good excuse though, I wish I had the time to can! Yours look great

I hatched a bunch of chicks from my BW cock to see if he was was double mb (double beard/muff) And he is! I had a friend that was going to take the chicks as they were just EEs but she backed out at the last second. One of them might be a purebred from that Ameraucana hen I got from you. Penny has that chick now. I am moving to Buckley (which fell into our lap so it is an unexpected move but a good one!) and my coop is going to be too small initially for all by adults AND the chicks. I already have 16 Ameraucanas that are only 14 weeks old So these babies had to go ASAP. Quite unfortunate because I wanted to keep a few for myself but I just couldn't. This move will allow me to expend and setup breeding pens for my Wheaten/Blue Wheaten/(one) Splash Wheaten Ameraucanas:yesss:.

My Wheaten Ameraucanas:

Love the funny faces ! Great to have you in Buckley !!!

But will you still be a goat lady ?

Thanks. I pulled that chair out of the junk pile. It works for cool pictures.

It's to late for the BYC calendar. I just took it tonight. I'm going to try them again tomorrow before it gets to dark. Maybe I can have all three in total focus then. I'm not totally satisfied with how the left pullet is slightly blurry.
Do the next pics with seasonal props, like a pumpkin would look so cool on the seat there with the birds !

Mom went on and on last night over how cool that chair looked for a prop when she saw that picture. It's so rickety I don't even dare ask the smaller dog to get on it. There are multiple screws and nails at each joint. I guess I should take it apart and fix the joints if I'm going to keep it. It would never hold a person, but it does look good for posing. Very rustic.

If the sun hadn't dipped down, I'd have tried again for a clearer shot last night. I'll try it again tonight. With the correct cockerel this time. The darker one looks better. The silkies will stay mostly put where I set them. The large fowl girls will not.

I talked to hubby about making little costumes and dressing up chickens to make a comic last night. The look he gave me...

I still need to try and get Ashes to wear the santa hat on his head for a picture. He's the most calm and would have none of it.
