Check out Meyer hatchery. They are sold out of Black Copper pullets for the season, but they still have a Marans assortment with a bunch of varieties still available with a bunch of dates for sexed pullets. Cackle still has sexed Black Coppers available. Both hatcheries do small orders.

My local feed store, actually called Cascade Farm and home has Moran's. I don't know if they are the black copper ones or not. But it seems like a Feedstore over there would have them. Feed stores just get them from hatcheries.

It is no different than me saying that my GF and I find oysters inedible. I think they are gritty boogers on the half shell. I know others love to eat oysters, it is a personal preference, not a moral issue.

I agree with you on the oysters. Yuck! I like other kinds of seafood but I've never liked oysters no matter how they are prepared.

In the above photo, it is not a worm, sure looks that way though.
That said, if your birds are very infested with a heavy parasite load, a worm CAN go up there & get sealed in an egg shell.or so I have heard, never seen.
I worm my birds & feed them pumpkin OFTEN...no way do I want worms in my eggs !

Oh good, I didn't realize that both breeds were so easy to tell on. I am rehoming three of my adult birds to make room for these three little ones. It's not easy to find homes for chickens if you don't want them to be soup. But somebody at work is going to take them.

Preaching to the choir here.

I had to slog through 6 inches of water to get to the silkie pens. The pens are a bit muddy where exposed, but it's mostly dry and raised up. The flooded area only does this once or twice a year normally. I haven't got it built up enough there to stop it yet.

The 3 inches of rain in the last week might have something to do with it. Since it will drain off if it stops raining for a bit.
