Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

Should be mostly whites. Those that aren't will be carrying a copy of it. I'm not expecting high fertility. Ashes has too many girls in there.

I popped a egg under the all black larger girl there was two Silky in the nest the other layed a egg the black pulled it under her so I popped a green one I had picked up from the main coop ... the other silky tired to go back in the nest the black on got really po'd at her

Is she sticking? I always wait a couple days to see if they are serious. I have a few that like to fake me out. Though not usually the silkies doing that

Hi! Anyone in Vancouver, WA interested in sharing a February order of chicks from MyPetChicken? They seem like the only source for sexed chicks vaccinated for Mareks. There is a 15 chick minimum now, so I'd love to have a partner in this....

none of us vaccinate up here so not sure if it safe for me to bring them here

Only a few breeds are super susceptible to mareks, like silkies. The ones you got from me are vaccinated for it. I do them as soon as the last one hatched is mostly dry.

I don't do large fowl here unless they are part silkie. Never had any problems with it in the EEs or ameraucana even the year it killed all my young silkies.

I don't have the old birds anymore. The breeding stock for the partridge were vaccinated when I got them so all the silkies here are done

Nothing like watching a couple dozen teenagers and young pullets go lame and die to convince me. Was 100% mortality in everything under 9 months. You can't breed for resistance with that
