Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

Most of my silkies can actually see right now. Unfortunately. They need a bath to get the mud out now.
My silkie’s head feathers are always wet or slightly muddy, she just molted so she doesn’t have a lot of long head feathers at the moment. But every time I let her out I need to wipe her up after.

That is because silkies aren't dumb and figure out really fast how to see better. Rub head against dew wet fencing. Stand in the rain. Dunk head under water for a few seconds. Dish water our of the water can and mix it with dirt then rub their head in it. I've had hens do all of them.

One of our girls surprised us this afternoon! I went to take a shower and when I looked outside there wasn't anything and when I came back out dressed I told my husband I was gonna go give them some scratch since they were not free ranging and I noticed what looked like an egg in the run. I told him I was pretty sure we had an egg and he was gonna have to go get it. He said no and that my pregnancy obviously was messing with my eyes XD but sure enough one of our girls laid a tiny egg in the run! Now I am going to the store to get some fake eggs to put in the boxes. I didn't think they were old enough to lay so I had the boxes closed off...XD
