Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

Eatonville is almost pushing it on distance. We're almost to the boarder between Graham and Eatonville. It's 30 minutes on a good day from here to Ft Lewis. Because traffic can be touchy, I leave an hour before any appointment at Mcchord Clinic.

I don't think Yelm allows chickens in town.

Most the cities in Pierce county do. Graham is unincorporated as are a few other townsites. So Fall under county rules unless it's an HOA. I still tell everyone to stay away from those things. I've seen chickens on city lots in Puyallup. I'm not sure what Tacoma or Lakewoods rules are.

Seattle is about an hour north. I-5 sucks during rush hours. It sucks all the time over by the Tacoma dome. Hopefully they will finish that road project.

Never have in time neither has Tacoma hate but I live in sticks here love it you should see those girls here they wait at the door to be carried to there tractor then sit at the door of the tractor to carried to the coop see what they did for me showed the dirty dozon how to use nipple water so I do not have to but are not mothering them they where 4 weeks old going there

Silkies tend to be pretty accepting birds. At least the ones I've had.

What surprises me is that the quite a few of the large fowl are all helping out the mama with chicks in there. I watched the head hen tidbit call the chicks to her for food the. Give it to them. The rooster has been good at helping for the last 3+ weeks. A few of the other hens help as well. It's been a nice family out there.

The lead hen is still going strong even though she's almost 9. Her replacement will be the one who currently has chicks. That girl established her place well even though she's just over a year old now.

See I have the 3 blue marans growing in the grow out coop, the dirty dozen with the silkie only because I have birds in the main coop would kill the peeps and no separate area there the cats could be kept out of Richard did a super job on the grow out coop cats got in once he had hardware cloth buried to keep them out that is how secure the silkie coop is but also has a floor

Hi! Hopefully I'm using the state thread correctly, but please let me know if this isn't the best place.

I currently own a house in the midwest have two pet chickens (both hens). I have a huge yard and plenty of the room for them to roam outside during the day and a run and coop for them at night. But my husband and I will likely have to move to the Tacoma area soon. We won't be buying because it's way out of our price range and we also aren't sure it will be a long-term enough move to warrant it. I'm looking for answers to two questions mainly:

1. What cities/areas are my best chances of a rental that would allow them? I'm thinking an area that's not too suburban/modern, but a more rural area or even a historic neighborhood (what I currently live in), away from Seattle (so south of Tacoma maybe? Sorry, my geography of the area is not good).

2. Is there a way, when searching rentals, to see if chickens (outdoor only) are allowed by the landlord? If anyone has a good real estate agent or property management company, that would be so helpful too.

I'm pretty distraught at the thought of having to give them up! But if anyone thinks that may be the only answer, please also let me know so I can start coming to terms with it. Thank you!
I had a hairdresser who had a small farm in Lacey. I would check out that area. Only about half hour from JBLM.
