Much of my property is marsh with 2 streams (1 seasonal) running in. It all drains into 2 huge connected ponds which then drain out to eventually dump into Muck Creek. Most people would see this as bad. I see this as my anti-development barrier against urbanization. Surprisingly this all means that we do drain off pretty well without flooding.

The county needs to come out and re-dig a few spots on the drainage ditch across the road as it's starting to backup and flood the road during heavy rains. The one on my side is never full. The ditches empty into the seasonal stream on each side. No culvert issue or flooding at that point. I'm just waiting for the soil under the flooding road to start sinking and crumble. We have enough issues with people racing down our 25mph narrow, .8 mile long road or big trucks leaving their trailers sitting out there blocking while they go do something.

A neighbor sent me a weather alert yesterday about the Cowlitz River flooding overnight last night. When the sun comes up I'll take a look at it. I'm right on that river. My river bank is about 30' high, so I'm not worried about that, but it might mean that creeks that flow in and out of it will flood the road out of here.

Too much rain!!!
