Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

I'm a bad chicken mama. So, yesterday, I let the girls out, and the gate open for them to return. I went somewhere for a couple hours, and asked hubby to close them in. He actually wasn't coming home soon. So, the wind closed the gate, and the girls couldn't get in before dark. I found them roosted in a couple trees, and on top of their run, which is hardwired in. I could not reach the 5 up there, and 2 in the lower tree branches I got into the coop. Ok, where's #8? Nowhere to be seen. As I walk up the porch steps, I hear chicken noises. She had nestled in under the porch, inside a latticed area, and I couldn't reach her or entice her to come out. She was also showing me the egg she had laid.:loveI blocked off the entrance so that no critter could get to her.
Hubs came home, and we got the girls off the run and into bed.
I unblocked the hole this morning and she came out. Had to use a broom to fish the egg out.
Learn as we go. :he
That’s a great story though! Especially with the happy ending!

Hey looked at what he builds.. Like how he uses cinder block .. Think I will use hardware cloth not field wire. On the one we are now building.

Rob and his wife are very nice people. They’ve made a business out of building coops and chicken sitting for people.

Yes it sure has and this community is generally very supportive of backyard chickens.
When I decided to get birds moving here .. I bought prefabricated coop. There is outfit they mailed it.
I had 6 barred rock it could hold 2 it was shabby .. ended up using it as a hospital coop then gave it away later.
Telling them it could only hold like 2 big birds 3 little ones.
Not very secure either.
