Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

Glass and broken pottery come up here. Especially in the large fowl run. This house was built in 1900 so I'm assuming that was one of the middens at one time. I took the metal detector out there once and dug out a lot of trash.

The one over by the fenceline gave me 2 scythes and a milk can.
Back at our childhood home in Hawaii, I used to pretend to be an archaeologist. In the process of digging up the garden, found some interesting things. I think our property may have been the neighborhood dump?

Well, the little roo sounds like a trumpet with the dampener (?) On the end of it. Quite endearing. According to county code, we can have 12 poultry. Doesn't specify gender outside of city limits, and non HOA (like the bottom end of my neighborhood, who cannot have any 😶). He'll stay for now, unless I get a complaint. Hoping my girls will get back into synch. Only laying at around 50-60%, of 8. I think the 2/4 brown chickens are molting now! Ugh.

Question for you veterans. Will the cockerel mate with the older hens, or just his chickmates? The 4 pullets and he roost close together. He is crowing more, and growing larger. Don't know if he'll ever advance up the ranks, as they are at the bottom now. Will the chicks from the mixes be just a barnyard mix, not resembling a Sapphire Gem? Or do the genes have a free for all and revert to P. Barred rock and Blue PR? I would be curious to see the cross mix. Thoughts? Sorry for rambling. Yay, the rain has stopped, no paused until 2 pm ish. How about you others in W. WA? The chooks are itching to come out, since they were cooped up yesterday. Pun intended 😄
