Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

I did nothing in the garden but I just finished mowing mine and my neighbor's yards. No grass out there, just weeds that needed to be knocked down.

I got my new Samsung solid state drive for my Macbook today. Time to study up on the best way to install it. No rush because the old one is still working fine, it could just be faster. The SSD should fix that problem.

I let the venison go today. Rather not eat that roast, it was too small.

Deer were in the garden. Dog freaked and started barking when we stepped outside. Had to shove dogs inside. The 2 does had a fawn with them. Does jumped fence, fawn tried 3 times and on the third time it got head through a top fence hole and body went over fence.

Yelled for hubby to help and grabbed metal snips. I managed to get the poor thing a little breathing room but couldn't cut the wire one handed. Hubby got out there and cut it. Mama had actually stayed back so we could free the baby. She's the one who ignores me outside

Baby blacktail sound like goats when they are yelling
Oh wow glad you saved the fawn !!

I am going to go plant radishes and parsnips today, maybe some winter hardy lettuces in the green house. I gave up planting lettuces outdoors as the slugs here devoure it. I just built a new 16' long green pole bean raised bed. Old ones were falling apart from rot.
This one is made from treated plywood, treated with copper which isn't toxic, but the slugs will not climb it ! YIPPEEE!:celebrate
Making about4 more 8' beds next spring.
And Im going to erect my high tunnel if it kills me. It's been sitting in a stack, disassembled for 2 years now ?
More eggs in the incubator..kind of a late start.....they will have to overwinter in the barn I until they can go outdoors.
Going out to plant radishes....

I had last night as I started to close the coops we have pavers first one had a snail and slug stepped on the snail, smushed the slug.
I have snail and slug bait in the garden.
I started a incubator to see if Fred was fertile.
I will take them to auction raise them till like 4 months get 12 bucks a piece

Who's Fred ?

Ralphie has found his crow. So cute. I feel bad for him over in the bachelor run all alone. Some of the girls hang at the fence line with him from time to time and Cooper comes over to fence fight periodically, so that at least keeps him entertained. I think I’ll know when I can try them out together again by their behavior toward each other through the fence.

When we do try it there will have to be one rooster argument to see who’s going to be boss, but I hope after that they can coexist.

We have another broodie. Hope she is successful.

I cleaned and refilled the chickens' 5 gallon water bucket, picked up 5 nice eggs.

Picked beans yesterday and got another gallon into the freezer. My green bush beans and rattlesnake pole beans are almost done, but I have a row of yellow wax beans that just started blooming. I'll have plenty of beans in the freezer for the winter.

I pulled three zucchinis from the garden yesterday too. I believe they will become sweet relish. I'll fine-chop them along with onion and red New Mexico peppers. Should be tasty.
