Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

Now that it's wet out. Would you, if you were treating bumblefoot, let chicken back out, or keep in a wire cage in the covered run, or keep inside to stay dry? One big factor is she is hard to catch for daily treatment. I do have a broody jail she could stay in. This lazy tender treated bumblefoot, then just took the wrap off a week later, but this was in the dry summer weather. What say you?

If she still has the hole from it being removed, I'd keep her someplace dry.

I guess we better buckle up 🌬️🌧️🌬️💨

Our roof isn't leaking out there, but the sides of the outside portion of the coop are hardware cloth, so the rain can go straight through if it is at enough of an angle. That's all I can think of for what happened. We rarely get any water in there.

However, when the snow season comes, we put up plastic because that stuff floats in easily. Too early to do that now. Some of the girls like hanging out in the fresh air in the early evenings a bit before going in. (Well, late afternoon now.) There are roosting bars out there. But they all go in by the time it is dark.

The whole coop is very secure, so we get everyone in by about 4:30 these days. All except Cooper who lives in the bachelor pad now. He is not as secure at night, but we do have live wire around the entire area, so have not had a night intruder ever. I think he is safe.
