Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

They have access to dry crumbles whenever they want them, and I'm giving them fresh weeds to eat every day too.

I'm not ready to let them out to free range yet, not as small as they are. They are cat-size treats.
Oh I’m relieved. I thought they were just getting fed in the mornings. Of course you wouldn’t do that. Sorry.

Oh, no problem! I didn't mean for my post to sound defensive or something. I was just stating facts. LOL

Another reason (other than me being lazy) for mixing a single big batch of feed in the mornings is that I think it might have time to ferment a little by later in the day. I guess fermented feed has extra benefits???

That’s what I have heard. I’ve never done it. My poor chickens get straight feed from the bag. 😁

I have about a week's worth of starter feed left for the chicks so I bought a 50# bag of Purina Flock Raiser crumbles. It's suitable for all types of birds, even chicks. I'll need to keep plenty of oyster shell available on the side for the one or two girls that are still laying. The 20% protein in the Purina might help the girls start laying better, I'm hoping.
