Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

I'm going to plant my peppers in the garden today,
Mine have been since the first of the month and they are doing great. Tomatoes are still struggling, but they have new growth so we'll see how it goes. They grew too tall and spindly in the green house so the didn't have the kind of start I was hoping for. I have topped a couple now, but when I was researching the idea I read that it is a bad thing to do. Wish I would have now.

I'm sure your tomatoes will be fine. I might plant mine tomorrow. I need a good night's sleep before crawling around on my hands and knees again planting stuff.

I got 12 peppers in; 6 Jalapenos from a packet of seeds I bought and 3 habaneros, 3 Hatch chilis, from seeds saved from grocery store peppers. If I need green bell peppers for my salsa I'll just have to buy them.

Still need to wrap some deer fence around the pepper patch, posts are in place already. It's a good spot for peppers since it'll get over 12 hours of direct sun daily. Tomatoes and beans are going into the same plot of ground.

You must get more sun on your side of the road! It rains over here. :lau
With all the trees in my yard the pepper patch is in one of the few spots that get a lot of sun. All of my raised beds get maybe 6 to 8 hours of sun during the summer. After 2PM the beds are in the shade.

Pepper patch looks good! Bell peppers are the only ones I planted, but I make marinara, not salsa.
Thanks! I'm not sure how they'll do because the dirt is a heavy clay soil. It was part of the lawn a year ago. The only thing I added to the soil when I planted them was some organic fertilizer that smells awful. Tone's brand. I swear I can see little pieces of chicken feathers in it.

I think they will do fine. Peppers are pretty hardy plants. They even grow for me!

I got the peppers protected from deer and I didn't have to use any of my deer fence/mesh stuff. I used a couple of chicken wire panels I made for my raised beds a couple years ago. It'll work for a little while.

It's 81° here and sunny. That's too hot for me but good for the peppers. They're not wilting at all in the heat.
