Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

Haven't seen a buck since last summer. Thought they got them all in the Fall, but this guy is young so I think they didn't notice him.

That's a healthy looking buck! I wish I was fast enough with my camera the other day to get a picture of the newborn fawn who's mama was showing where my garden plants were.

The deer linger here. This is their neck of the woods, so to speak. They eat the bird seed. :hmm And they are laying around the yard all the time. It's pretty easy to get photos. I opened the door and he took a couple steps and then just stood there looking at me to see if I was coming out or not. Unfortunately, this little guy will be in someone's freezer come hunting season. They are too docile here to stay away from humans.

Some people around here feed them, which I think is a bad idea for the safety and appropriate wariness of the deer, but hey, apparently I feed them too. I feed them bird seed.

The birds on the other hand are hard to photograph. I want to post a couple to one of the threads here and get help identifying, but they won't sit still for a minute.

I was wrong about being finished planting stuff. I realized there's a perfect spot for a short row of Blue Lake pole beans along the west side of the shallot/onion patch. The trellis ropes are already in place, left over from last year's tomatoes.

Some of my collards are starting to bolt so I'll pull them out tomorrow morning and put them in the freezer. All the tomatoes I planted yesterday are looking good today.
